Intercepted by two F16's, who escorted it into O'Hare. Probable source of sonic booms reported over Illinois this morning.

I'm thinking that the hero status accorded to the "Let's Roll" dudes on the hijacked plane that crashed in Pennsylvania has inspired others to emulate the heroes in the event of another hijacking. Given that, don't you think future unarmed hijackers are going to find the going a little tougher, even to the point of failure?

So has the pilots asking people before takeoff to help out if such a incident happens.
MSNBC is reporting that, according to their Chicago affiliate, the aircraft is on the ground at a remote area of the airport- not at the terminal- and has been borded by Federal officers. Suspect is in custody and the passengers are being interviewed by Federal agents before being moved to the terminal and allowed to disembark. |

On previous flights he had been allowed to visit the pilots, and I guess he doesn't understand the new rules. The fool seems to be his father, who was escorting him and failed to restrain him. I was outside at home when I heard the sonic booms from the fighter jets. People up and down the street thought it was an explosion, and wanted to know what happened.
Some I spoke with called 911, but many were just scanning the horizion looking for smoke or flames. I've heard sonic booms befre, but it's spooky knowing it's military aircraft on the way to intercept civillian aircraft. Av. |

There are certain problems that go with the passengers being armed. Think about it for a moment.
Some of the armed passengers might be Terrorists. Some of the Terrorists may disarm the passengers. Mistaken identity among the passengers themselves as well as the Sky Marshal not knowing who's who is a real big problem. There must be more, but, that's what I see as the root of the problem. |
