I have a couple of 22lr chambered firearms. They got very little use in the last 10 year due the availability of cheap centerfire surplus ammo. but now that 5.56 and 7.62 is going for 30-50 cents I round,I have started shooting the 22's a lot more. I mean 11 bucks for 500 at Wally world is cheap.I plan to get another 22,most likely a 10/22.

So have you taken out your safe queen 22 recently?

I've been shooting my little bolt action romanian 1969 trainer rifle a lot.

I haven't even gone through a whole brick yet.

I need to get a semi maybe a 10/22 and blow through some, but the lack of good hicap mags for it scares me off.  Why isn't there a reliable 50 or 100 round mag for this thing?  It's been around since the dark ages.  Someone should have figured this out by now!

Bought a Buckmark .22.  I'd say I put 20-30x as much ammo through it than anything else I have.

To burn an afternoon-

225 rounds of .22lr (half a federal value pack) = approx $6

OR

225 rounds of .223 = approx $73

Being a lowly college student, it looks like if I want to eat and be able to put gas in my truck, I'm shooting the .22lr.

I been shooting the hell outta my 22lrs,

went to walmart today and picked up another 3.3k of the fed bulk packs,

the shit of the deal, is walmart increased the price $2/value pack on the fed, $3 on the rem and $1 on the win super x since I bought two weeks ago.

Was thinking about picking up a 10/22, but still pissed off at Ruger.

Any other suggestions for good semis with readily-available magazines?

If you have ever been poor, center fire ammo has been expensive in your history.  A collection of rimfires is never a bad thing.  Here are my short guns:

Bare minimum is 10K of bulk pack rimfires.  I buy a box every time the wife drags me into Wally World.

nope, not from me.

Get a 10/22 and buy lots of "hi-cap" magazines, to balance out the sin of buying a Ruger.

Alway on the lookout for a good .22, but ammo cost isn't the primary factor.

If I can be absolved by buying hicaps (is this like buying forgiveness from the Pope?), it looks like I'm stuck with Ruger.

Fed is 9.97 for the 550 bricks.

Has it gone to 11.97 ??

I've bene buying them out whenever I go and if they're really upped the price i'll stop.

$10.88, they were $8.8? here two weeks ago, the rem 550 packs went up to $12ish from $9.?, and the win xpert HP 500 packs are $10.88 from $9.88,

could just be this walmart, theres three within 20 miles of my house and prices on the same items are different at each place.

I took my ruger MkII to my conceal carry class due to ammunition cost.  I only fired 10 rounds.  cost me like 18 cents.

I took my 10/22 to the range today because I don't have much ammo for my other guns. I need to stack it deep for a while before taking the other toys out. Until then, I still have over 2,000rds of .22lr in an ammo can ready for use.

I don’t shoot a 22 because it’s cheaper. I do have a 22 pistol with a can.

I try to work on getting better with the Arms I will use.
I shoot what I shoot but don’t really plink much.
I try to make my rounds count.
Oh I may plink a few rounds but I really try to work at being better while shooting.

YMMV

I just got my ceiner kits and BDM mags in today. Took them out and they are a blast, I should be putting a few up on the EE to help out some others with the ammo costs because I know its hurting my wallet!

I bought a WASR-22. Lot of fun, but no mags available bigger than 10 rounds each. Still, it's the gun I shoot the most, lately.

I bought a 10/22 because...well...it's just un-American not to have a .22 rifle.
I bought an Advantage Arms conversion kit for my Glock so I can practice with it more often, more cheaply. It's also nice to have 2 calibers on the same frame.

Been dragging my old Marlin Mod. 70 .22 rifle to the range alot more. Also been thinking about getting a 22 Pistol, or at least a conversion for my 1911.

I never put mine away.  Most of my trips to the woods and shooting areas are on my dual purpose motorcycle.  I can pack my 10/22 folder in a folding-chair-bag-scabbard alongside the bike with my thirty year old MKI and a brick of ammo in my pack.  Lots of shooting with very little weight or bulk.

I bought my Trailside with part of my severance pay when I got laid off, so I could shoot for less.

Briskette was actually okay with it.
