For this price I'd assume the rifle is stolen, or the seller just woke up from a Rip Van Winkle type nap.....

Nope, I've known the seller for years... he is straight up and the guy knows guns. The receiver had a small hole drilled in it to accept a funky adjustable height target aperature and the receiver is in bad need of a refinishing. I don't think he would have sold it to just anybody at that price. Like I said, we've known each other for around 10 years.

Palmetto receivers are machined from billet aluminum. They were made by Oly in the'70's maybe even early '80's. As Juggernaut said, worth about double what you paid. Sorry about the smart-@$$ comments earlier. I figure anybody who has been around here as much as you have knew this stuff. I figured you were braggn'. You have every right too. Where in the receiver is that whole drilled? You sure it's not to accept an autosear/m16 bolt, or whatever the name of that part is, which requires drilling a whole |

I'm pretty sure its not for the sear, its some sight mount that the owner rigged up in which he drilled a hole in both the upper and lower and then clamped an adjustable elevator sight... At least that's what I call them for lack of a better term. There are in fact two small holes drilled side by side on both the upper and lower for the bracket that is attached.
Like I said, its in rough shape but still serviceable and will no doubt look great when refinished. We will probably fill those small holes in when we refinish it. Now you all are making me want to screw my friend after I told him he could have it. That's not very nice. |
