hi all,

i am going to a gun show this weekend and i was wanting some advice on a couple of guns.  this is my sittuation,  i want a very good and accurate ar15 for target and competition at the same time i also want to get a shorty upper that will make a good entry rifle.  I have heard that the DPMS rifles have tighter chambers than bushmaster.  Overall, which is the better rifle?

thanks
lojack

For an overall, simple answer: the DPMS is probably a better target rifle for accuracy, and you simply can't beat the Bushy in a shorty.  Get a Bushy shorty rifle and a DPMS upeer, best of both worlds.

I 2nd ph119.

Get a good lower with a really good trigger. Then a bushy shorty upper for entry, and a dpms 20" or 24" panther for extreme accuracy.

Lojack:

For about the cost of a factory "target" rifle you can have one made by a well-known smith.  Buy one lower with a good trigger and buy the upper(s) of your choice.

HTH....SRM

BTW....between the two, I'll take the Bushmaster

I too would go with a complete Bushmaster shorty. Then build a new upper for accuracy (match) shooting. Good luck !!

thanks for all the help.  so i guess that a dpms upper will fit on a bushmaster lower then.  would a cpms upper fit on a colt lower?

For my money I prefer DPMS. I've built some really nice DPMS weapons for around $500 bucks. My personal favorite AR currently is my fluted barrel DPMS. It's been the most accurate and reliable AR I've ever owned. For the money I say DPMS.

I will second hatebreed's opinion. I have been very pleased with DPMS.

Haven't had any dealings with DPMS, but I love my Bushmaster. Never missed a beat.

Obviously not enough experience with Bushmaster yet. They make the best product available out there.
