Is it ok to keep a magazine loaded over a long period of time?  I've head that it could wear out the spring. I've had my ak, ar15, and handgun clips loaded for about 5 months now.

I was told a long time ago that its okay to leave them fully loaded or completely empty, but to leave a magazine partially loaded could damage the spring over time.  That's the assumption I've been operating under for 20+ years and it hasn't bitten me yet.

oops I just read what I wrote.

Haha, it's ok, you'll get the hang of it.  Welcome to the board!  Leave em loaded, they're no use to you otherwise.  As the others have said, it's the constant loading/unloading that will wear them out.
