If you havnt read it read the book Shooter, havnt seen the movie but it cant do the book justice.

If you like a VERY macho approach to the subject, Richard Marcinko has a few fiction works, called the Rogue Warrior series. Also has some NF work to that is much better than his fiction.

Try 'The Kill Clause' by Gregg Hurwitz. It's about a US Marshal who joins a vigilante group after his daughter is murdered in a horrific fashion and the killer is freed on a technicality. Lots of good gun stuff, as well as some cool scenes about setting up a new identity, living low profile, and hitting a high-profile target in a very public setting. Extremely good book, although nothing else by this author is up to the same standard. |

"Proud Legions" by John Antal
 Is a fictional story set in the mid 90s, where the North Koreans launch Operation Daring Thrust, a lightning attack into South Korea, masterminded by NK Marshall Kim Seung-Hee (aka the Wolf), the North Koreans make their advance towards Seoul and the only thing in their way is the 2nd Batallion, 72nd Armor Regiment of the US Army, commanded by Lt. Col Michael Rodriguez. The story takes is validity because John Antal is a retired US Army Colonel, West Point Graduate and served in teh US Army for 30 years, with his last command as operations officer (G3) for the III Armored Corps at Fort Hood, Texas. As you read the novel, you realize that it bears strong resemblance to the current state of affairs in North Korea. A very good read, IMHO. |

Although both the title and the cover art was very cheesy, Ian Stuart's "USA vs. Militia" series was pretty good reading. Though after the first book, it took a decidedly statist theme.

Did anyone here like Rainbow Six? I was kind of disappointed by it, but maybe it's just me.
I'm reading Rogue Warrior now and I'm not enjoying it that much, either. I did not care for the way Marcinko picked on Drew Dix for winning a MoH when his guys did not. |

I have all of McNab's fiction. I think the last 4 or 5 were only released in the UK. You can get them off amazon obviously. John Ringo also has a somewhat similar series, though it is a little bit more "out there." |

Not so much a "thriller", but I really liked "Team Yankee" by Harold Coyle. Coyle tried to go Clancyesque with a couple of other of his books I read, but I wasn't terribly impressed.
Team Yankee was awsome though. |

not exactly thrilling....
but i really enjoyed "band of brothers" by ambrose also, picked up "beyond band of brothers" by dick winters again, not thrilling, but one hell of a good read. at least i thought so. |

I liked it. I even enjoyed Teeth of The Tiger, although it seemed like it should have been followed up by another book with the way it ended. |

Its a bit different, but I recommend the Kildar series by John Ringo. It starts with a book called Ghost and you can get online versions cheap at webscriptions.net

Any of Dale Brown's novels come reccomended by me.
Ralph Peters has several good .mil novels. The best IMO is "War in 2020" followed by "Red Army" Stephen Coonts is another. ETA: Harold Coyle does good work also IMO. "The 10,000" is my favorite from him. |
