Robber shot during confrontation with Tucson homeowner
(Tucson-AP) -- A would-be robber is dead after Tucson police say he was shot with his own gun during a struggle with a homeowner.

The fatal confrontation occurred about 8 o'clock last night when police say the homeowner discovered the suspect in his garage.

The homeowner told officers that he began struggling with the robber after the gunman demanded money.

Police say besides a 38-caliber handgun, the robber also had a stun gun, wire cutters and a policer radio scanner.

Police say the homeowner's phone line had been cut and the homeowner, who suffered head injuries in the struggle, had to yell for help.

The incident occurred in the 36-hundred block of north Royal Prince Court.

The injured homeowner was taken to a hospital. The suspect was dead at the scene.

What do you think this gentlemans first priority is going to be when he gets out of the hospital?  He is a very lucky man though. Fortunately it all turned out well- one dead takeover robber.

Hire a good civil defense lawyer for when the perp's family sues him for depriving them of his income and company?

Not normally needed in Arizona.

Sadly not the case here in Texas.  A justifiable shooting still leaves you open to civil penalties.

God Bless Texas

Same here.  The law specifically prohibits criminal charges being brought against someone in a case like this.  However, there are always slimeball lawyers who will find some reason to convince the assailant's family to sue the victim.  Of course, they claim the guy who died was the victim, suggesting that the real victim has a duty to kneel before the criminal and take a bullet to the back of the head.  Unfortunately, even here, going after those worthless sacks of flesh doesn't fall under the "he needed killin" clause of the law.

new law needed:
Anyone attempts to rob or kill you, and fails, you not only get their weapon, but everything else they owned.

I think he'll immediately start agitating for a ban on handguns.  He could've been killed!
