Some scenes from Savannah and Tybee Island I thought you might enjoy.  Actually for all to enjoy, I hope.

Those are beautiful pics.  I've always wanted to visit Georgia.  Maybe the family and I will take a trip this coming spring.

God Bless Texas

Back in January of 2000, I spent about 2 months in the west Texas desert on U.S. 90 between San Antonio and El Paso putting fiber optic repeater and regen equipment into huts.  Enjoyed it very much even though it was the desert.  It was eerily beautiful, if that makes sense.  Del Rio was lots of fun as the ladies were very friendly.  Wish I had this digital camera then.  Come on down to the Georgia coast.

Larry-

My family and I discovered Savannah 3 years ago, as well as Tybee Island, and have been back twice to vacation. LOVE SAVANNAH! I've got several pics as well, including me strolling around town with my big plastic glass full of Chatham Artillery Punch. (couldn't finish it and later drive legally!) We make the trip primarily for the stay at Tybee, which I think is probably one of the best kept secrets of summertime travel; it's clean, never overcrowded, even in the middle of spring break, and the surrounding area isn't overloaded with dive bars/souvenir shops/overpriced hotels, etc. All that, and it's surprisingly affordable. DAMN! Now I want to go back again. Thanks for the pics.

All the best,

Arq12

Yep, that's River Street.  You probably made it for St. Patrick's Day while you here, right?  Everyone is Irish for that day.

Same here (A/13 FA, July 90-Dec 92)....spent WAY too much time "Calling a Cab" at Wet Willie's! Never had the balls to go into the New Jack, though [@:D] I wish I could remember the name of the guy in my unit who jumped off the wall into the Savannah River and nearly drowned one winter.

Isn't there a nuclear bomb in the ocean a couple of miles off the coast of Tybee Island?

Excellent pictures man. Do you work for the tourist board or something, because I know that's somewhere I want to go now. [thinking]

That sunset shot looks familiar! I was just down there in August to visit my brother who lives a block off Abercorn at 57th. Love that town! We went to Tybee for some swimming with my son, had a great time. Did you take those city hall shots from Hutchinson Island? My brother took us on a tour of the race track that is there, and got a carriage head bolt through his tire in one of the sweeper curves there.

The picture was taken on Bull Street on the Savannah side of the river.  The track got used once and the creditors were impatient, not realizing that a new track takes time to make money, so the track just sits there.  I worked corners (SCCA) for the Indy Lights race and met Castro Neves before he went to the Champ Cars.  I've taken a few clandestine laps in my RX7 there.

Yep.  Nobody is worried about it though.

Just stay away from Tybee on one weekend - ORANGE CRUSH! [@:D][@:D][@:D][@:D]

Oh, yeah, make sure you eat at the Breakfast Club! Go early for, duh, breakfast!

I've been visiting Tybee all my life, got friends there too. Now let me dig up and scan some St Patrick's day pics from River St. [:D] Garandman might be offended! [BD]

Nope, that's about 275 miles from here.  Next time I'm in Atlanta, I'll take some pictures of the big granite rock.

You got that right.  You can't move around at all on that weekend and many of the businesses close because the Crush participants don't buy anything and block anyone else from getting there.  They litter the beach unbelievably up to and including crapping on the beach.
