Steve,
Is that the battle pack (300) PMP (Pretoria Metal Pressing) ammo, or the boxed stuff with an animal on the box? Either way, the South African stuff is high quality. I like the battle pack stuff--it is a little on the "warm" side, but should work perfectly in just about everything. AFARR |

I bought some S. African .223 from WholeSale Guns in NY a year or two ago (they used to be under a different name). Some of the ammo misfires (fails to fire) and takes 2 to 3 more attempts to successfully fire it. I have had this happen in 2 different rifles with the same results, so it's not a fault of the rifle(s).
The ammo I bought came in 200 round, sealed, plastic battle packs. This may have been a bad lot, but, I will not be buying any more S. Africa ammo. Arma-Lite |

Check the ammo section of the forum. Some pretty good discussions about the SA ammo - mostly good things are being said about it.

Garandman was right. chipo, the ad was in last month's Shotgun News- I left it at my office, but IIRC it was 1,200 rounds for $145. Check the link above. |

I shoot alot of the the SA stuff. I have had one instance where the bullet failed to fire. After removing the round I noticed the primer was dented from the firing pin hitting it. I attempted to fire it a second time and it went bang! Guess the primer was a little hard headed..
