Original thread HERE

I walked past the pet isle at the store and saw Tidy Cat Crystals.
I remembered the original thread, and took a closer look at the bottle.
I unscrewed the lid, and discovered there was no perfume.  At least not in this one.

I found a glass jar with a lid that seals.

I had an indoor/outdoor thermometer with hygrometer.
The outdoor thermocouple wire broke, which is why the outside temp reads "LO".

I sealed the hygrometer inside the jar and allowed it to stabilize.
Initial humidity is 49%.

Then I dumped some Tidy Cat Crystals directly from the store container into the jar.
After 24 hours, the humidity inside the jar went down to 28%.
Not too bad, except I used a rather large amount of crystals for such a small
container.

I took a regular glass mason jar and filled it with the crystals.
I put it in the gas oven at 300 degrees for 3 hours,
afterwhich I screwed the lid on and allowed it to cool overnight.

Today when I opened the jar, it had a very strong vacuum from the hot air cooling.

I dumped some into the test jar with the hygrometer, and within 10 minutes the
humidity dropped from 49% to less than 20%.

Lesson here is that before this kitty litter is used for anything you consider
important, it needs to be oven dried first.

The brown colored crystals isn't because I did this with used litter.
Sources on the web seem to indicate some crystals may be contaminated with
some organics which char in the oven.

I'm not the English teacher in the family.  Wife says it is "aisle".

Who the hell comes up with spellings like that.
