I was asked the question while talking to a few other dads.

If someone ever hurt your child (abuse of some form) would you Hurt the offender or worse?

Out of the group I was the only person to answer. No....A conviction for me means losing my job, then my house, etc and my family really being in world of shit.

Depends. Is it pretty clear he's going to a "pound you in the ass" prison for a very long time?  Or does the situation look sketchy. If its sketchy.... Umm not up for a an account lock but I'm sure I could fill a few posts with what I'd do...

I'd probably spend the rest of my life in prison. I don't have any kids though...

Would the authorities know the person in question had hurt my kid - and thus link the crime to me?

Is the kid still alive?  Do I have other kids depending on me to be around?

A lot of unanswered questions that would very much effect the response.

Are you talking about self defense (defense of others) or premeditated retaliation after the injury to the child?

In Arizona, you have the right to defend others if you reasonably believe the person you are assisting has the legal right to use force in his own defense. All that is required is the reasonable appearance of the right to use force.

Retaliation after the fact would be a crime. Your child would not be any better off (you didn’t protect him from anything) and you could face prosecution and then actually cause additional harm to your child.

If someone was in the act of hurting my child I would respond and be justified in doing so. If the injury had already occurred I would contact law enforcement and work closely with prosecutors to ensure justice is done. I would also file civil suit against the perpetrator and bleed him/her financially as well.

As in a "predator" hurt your child?  A good alibi would be a great start.

A friend of mine had a daughter.  Her boyfriend attempted to date rape her in a car at a park in their city.  My friend talked to the boy and the boy was very smart-assed about the whole thing.  Later,  he disappeared for three days, and eventually showed up at his parents house in his underwear.  He was scratched up like he had been running through the woods.  He had no memory of what occurred during those three days.  He was a known drug user, and evidently got ahold of some bad drugs.

No question about it...yes.

Reminds me of a case years ago in Baton Rouge, LA. Martial arts instructor molested a boy he was teaching and left town when it became public to escape conviction. Police tracked him down and flew him back to BR. They were escorting him through the airport when the father of the boy who was at a pay phone spun around and put a bullet into the guy's head. Molester was dead on the spot.
I'm sure the Dad spent a little time and alot of money on defense but he got off.
Can't remember if the DA declined to prosecute, Grand Jury didn't indict or he was found not guilty.

Im 20 and I have no children. All I know is that my grandfather would have kicked anyones ass within an inch of their life then shot them in the testicles etc.... if they had abused me (my dad is the same way). When I have kids if anyone touches my babies, there will be fucking hell to pay. I will become a mushroom cloud laying motherfucker with some pipe hittin niggas from my home and will deal a great amout of vengence upon anyone who mistreats my children. To me family is the most important thing next to God and I WILL NOT stand for any sort of abuse to them. THERE WOULD BE HELL TO PAY!

Yep, that's a great segue into my comment, which is simply "there are far worse things than death".

One might be surprised, even shocked, by the merciless creativity a man can display when his child has been hurt.

My friend told me that the fellow's date rape career appeared to come to an abrupt end afterwards, so you may be right.

An adult beat my teen aged son.  Him and I had a heart to heart in the middle of the Burger King he worked at.  I then informed a screaming manager that he had attacked my son while on the clock.  Word got out quick in my small town.  I was soon arrested, spent half a night in jail and paid a fine.  The local LEO's knew this guy very well and, although they had to arrest me, they made sure I was very comfortable while awaiting a bondsman.  They even walked me outside at one point so I could smoke a cigarette that I bummed off one of them.

I also have two daughters.  None of their boyfriends or husbands have ever laid a hand on them.  Word gets around.

Some guy shoved my then-7 year old son because he briefly blocked his view at a rodeo.

I asked him if he was man enough to shove a child maybe he'd like to take a shot with me. He didn't. I said it loudly enough that bystanders heard and gave him all sorts of dirty looks. He left shortly afterward.

Yes.  Someone purposely injures, molests, or murders my little ones and their life is forfeit.  My justice would be delivered with extreme prejudice and pain.

If I could, I'd SSS.  I'd make damn sure that the perp knew who it was ending his miserable existance before I sent him to hell.  If I could not, then the Doucet method would suffice.

I could live in jail with the clear conscience that I ended that prick's life.  I could not live with myself knowing that the liberal criminal justice system put him back on the street to hurt another child.

Would I hurt someone that was an adult and hurt my child you bet I'd come after him, his family, his friends, pretty much everyone who ever knew him until either I was killed myself or arrested.

If say a teenager hurt my child who was much younger (say a 15 year old beat up my 10 year old) I'd press charges.

If it was a fair fight with one kid vs. my kid of relatively the same age then I'd just teach my son how to fight better and make him kick that kid's ass later on.

If a group of kids beat my chid I would sue the the school if it took place there or possibly the parents in civil courts.

I was physically pummeled constantly by my drunk 'ol man when I was a kid.  I vowed that I would never allow anyone to ever do that to me again.  I also never allowed anyone to do that to my sons or any other child if I could intervine.

At a Home Depot a few years ago, the wife and I were in the outside garden area when we noticed this guy loading up 5- 50# bags of sand into a shopping cart.  He was making his 10-11 y.o. daughter push it.  She tried to turn a corner and the cart, that he loaded, dumped over.  He ran over to her, slapped the shit outta her across the face, called her a "stupid, fucking bitch," and then shoved her to the ground.

I ran the 20' to the girl and picked her up and got between her "dad" and her.  He comes up to me, gets right in my face and starts screaming at me to "mind my own f'ing business, blah, blah.  He then trys to head butt me but only catches the bridge of my nose with the bill of his cap.  Now he's committed battery.  I nail him with the web of my right hand right to his adams apple.  He drops like a rock.  I flip him over and sit on his back.  By then the LP guys are on the scene.  They saw the whole thing and they have it on video.  I hold the guy until the police show up.  They arrest him for battery of a minor and I press charges too.

He ended up being sentenced to probation, I never had charges filed against me.  I would do it again if I see it happen again.

Just FYI...be careful with placing bodies in National Parks as that puts you on Federal Land and subject to the death penalty unless KY already has it in which case have fun digging.
