I need some generic Czech and Egyptian names for characters in a short story I'm writing. Gimme some German names too, something more than the usual Hans, Fritz, Gunter, etc.

I always though "Helmut" and "Kurt" were  nice German names.

"Antony" would work for a Czech.

An Egyptian could be "Horus" or "Sef".

Some background on the story to aid in coming up with names: In 1941, Nazi Germany sends an expedition, consisting of a handful of SS, some Czech conscripts, and a couple archeologists to Egypt to secure and examine a newly discovered ancient city hidden beneath the sand, the purpose being 1) the Nazi penchant for exploring really old crap, and 2) there might be gold in the ruins, which is always a bonus. Obviously they 'recruit' locals to help them dig it up. So I need names for the kraut overseers, the Czech conscripts, and Egyptian laborers.

How about Adger (pronounced edger). I met a guy from Germany a couple of months ago and that is his name.

Read the squid/Cthulhu thread. It's got links to a couple H.P. Lovecraft stories. THAT is where this little tale is going.

I'm glad you're not going with the Mohammed, Achemd, Ali, etc.

When other countries write stories about America, is everyone named John, Mike, and Bob?

Well, actually...

I didn't want stereotypical names for Egyptians and Germans, and don't really know many Czech names. The only Czechs I know are second and third generation Americans, with American names, who sometimes visit the old country. Interestingly, apparently I'm the only non-native Czech one of them has met who can actually pronounce his (seven syllable) name. Even the cz at the front of his name confuses people.
