From the vote.com e-mail someone forwarded to me:

[i]Dear voter,

Proposals to create a national identity card system are gaining momentum in the wake of the recent terrorist attacks. While federal authorities say they need new ways to pick out suspects moving through checkpoints like airports or border crossings, many privacy advocates fear that Congress may force
law-abiding citizens to carry the equivalent of electronic dog tags.

Does America need a national ID card system?

Log on to http://www.vote.com to answer that question, and your opinion will be automatically sent to your congressional representative, senators and the president.

This proposal could potentially affect the daily life of every American - or it may help save many lives. Please make your vote count, and be sure to forward this message to friends and family so they can make their voice heard too! http://www.vote.com

The poll is all well and good, but you have to give them your e-mail to make the vote count, and that will be good for another batch of spam.

Ignore vote.com.

It had GWB winning the election with 97% of the vote.
It's a circle-jerk.

This site won't take my vote because I won't allow it to place cookies. I manually accept or decline cookies as a normal means of some privacy, although it is a PITA somtimes.
For the record, I feel too many people are "freaking out" about this attack. What I mean is, to many people are rushing to create new laws, new restrictions on our lives, acting like we have absolutely NO time to think this through carefully. It's the same knee-jerk reaction that's brought on all the ineffective gun laws, helmet/seatbelt laws, etc.
I VOTE NO ON NATIONAL I.D. CARDS
