TRuly awsome creatures and not to come off like a peta freak but its almost a shame to kill them unless they are posing a threat.

Looks real to me, and it's not as if they have never been known to get that large.

When I lived in Idaho, we would run into them quite a bit when we would go out to the natural hot springs. I had one walk outin front of my car, and we joked that it would take the tires off my car and use it for chew toys. They are awesome animals.

Well, I'm all for hunting, for food and fur that is. They wasted a pretty good line of the gene pool.

In the bottom picture there is a little blood in the snow to the right of its face, and on the right picture there is blood in the snow below its legs, and it looks like possibly some blood on its belly.

I see some blood in those pics. In the snow by his face.

I don't have any other info on this big cat. Maybe one of the guys from OR might know more about it.

I don't think it is photo-shopped.  But the only pic in which the real size is shown is where it is being carried.  In the other pics, the people and dogs are a bit further away than the cat, which gives the cat the appearance of being a bit larger.  It still is a good sized cat, however.

Standard fare anytime someone posts a hunting pic with a nice trophy, at least three arfcomers will call BS or claim the pics were photoshopped without any reason whatsoever.

The lighting looks off. I could be wrong, too. When I get pics in email, I get REALLY critical. Heck, maybe it is legit.

The usual method for killing a big treed cat is to shoot it in the body with something like a .22 magnum so it bleeds out in the tree and is mostly dead when it hits the ground...thus not mauling up the dog pack.

So much for a quick clean kill.

I agree with you. The only two animals I have no personal interest in hunting are big cats and bear. Everything else from elephant to fox are fair game.

The lighting was the first thing I noticed to.  There was a mountain lion email that was floating around that was proven to be a hoax.  It claimed it was killed in Kansas.

North American cougars get to 7 to 8 feet long, so this doesn't seem too far fetched.

I am a hunter, but I always get a bad feeling when I see those things killed. I get that feeling anytime I see predators hunted. If they were a threat or nuisance I kind of can justify it. JMO.
