Here's mine. It's a Mk II lower that I got through their upgrade program, with a Cold 20" 1/7 gov't profile barrel. It balances extremely well, and the stock length is just right for me.
I couldn't be happier with it, and I'd have no reservations about trusting it with my life.

If I could SBR I'd get a Cav Arms lower...run a BUIS...a DD 7.0 (1st gen) 11" or so lightweight barrel...and call it a day. that bitch would be light!!!

I've also got one in blue like that. It's affectionately known as the "smurf gun". I had some problems with failures to eject at first, but got them all straightened out. They seemed to be stand-up guys, and from what I can tell, it works flawlessly now. |

Cav Arms lowes have been extensively torture tested, and are robust as hell. I'd trust mine without hesitation. The Cav Arms crew are also a great bunch of guys. That said, I find the length of pull on an A2 style to be too long for me, and I've come to prefer the Sully stock. Otherwise, the Cav Arms lowers rock.

We had a member here a LONG time ago (med_cop ?) that used a pink CavArms as his dept entry gun.  In fact, he got the money to buy and build it from ARFcom member donations! |

No pictures, but I'v had a Cav-15 MkII lower pinned to a Bushmaster upper for years. It worked great, fit great, and looks great. I'v since acquired a BM lower for the BM upper. And now I have a BM .22LR dedicated upper on order. If Bushmaster ever gets around to delivering it (hopefully while I'm still young) I'll have a sweet light weight .22 plinker.

Here's mine. CavArms MkII upgraded lower, and a Bushy 16" HBAR upper.
Someday I'll send it out to Randall and have him shave down that HBAR, it makes the rifle a little front end heavy. I also had one in OD with an ARF.com serial number. I traded it for an SAR-3. Sorry about the crappy pic.

  Here's one I helped a friend build. It is "marinized"... most of the parts are coated with Norrell's Molyresin. The barrel is an Olympic Arms 16" M4 style in stainless.

I have 3 complete ARs. One of these has a Cavarms lower (with an ARFCOM serial number)
Here are the entirely subjective "pros": - 1st, in the sense that "the best self-defense weapon you can have is the one in your hand", yes, I would trust my life to it. - 2nd, it seems, no matter which upper I mate it to, to slightly increase the accuracy of that upper. (and I have no idea how that would be possible.) - 3rd, customer service. I posted on this board about a minor problem... within minutes, one of the guys on the board associated with Cavarms had IM'd me, offering to help. Plus, all the feedback I get from others is positive, as in this thread. - 4th, light weight. - 5th, for me, excellent ergonomics*. Then, the even more subjective, con: - * as long as I don't have to look at it. To me, most EBRs have a distinctive "look", and that's a small part of the satisfaction you get from owning one. With the Cavarms lower, it just doesn't look like a conventional AR. This, for me, is not enough to keep it out of the "rotation". If looks don't bother you, then, they are fine, and may even be preferable for your application. |

Silly question: The "pistol grip" and "stock" are all part of the serialized receiver thus it is the receiver; so does that mean legally it does not have a pistol grip or stock (as they are all one part)?
I would see this as a way of having the market share of Cali, NJ, NY, Ohio...or who ever else has an AWB. |

Loose pins? No, not with mine. If you do have a problem, talk to the good folks at CavArms. They have this wonderful habit of resolving problems. ETA: When the lower is not assembles with an upper, some people might consider the pins to be "loose". In this condition they have more clearance than some other AL receivers I have seen. However, every upper that I have put on them, the fit has been very snug. I don't like any slop between the upper & lower and will generally use the rubber "accu-wedge" thing to take it out. This has never been needed with the CavArms lowers I have seen, which also ensures the pins are tight when assembled. |
