No, it's not my cat! I don't care for them but it sure makes it hard for me to hate it. It perfers the AR's more than anything.
I find it sleeping on top of the soft cases all the time, always comes around to hang out when I clean them and likes the birdcage more than the Phantom for rubbing on. I woke up this morning and my wife had put a blanket on top of the case in my closet??????????? And if there is anything gun related out its all over it purring like crazy. I find it laying on my gun magazines, yes the paper ones. God forbid you turn the laser sight on the GLOCK or break out the ammo cans. Anyone else have a cat or other animal like this? |

my cat likes tobacco...she licks whatever pocket I'm carrying my pack of smokes in. Same cat loves potatoe chips, cheetos, nachos (esp the cheese ones), lettuce, all sorts of expensive cheese, and a lot of other crazy things.

I notice my wifes cat loves to sniff the muzzle of every firearm I own.
Why is that? |
|
I hope you've hidden the ammo in a safe place because that situation looks like it could go bad in a heartbeat. |
|
|
Probably the same reason you like to scratch your testicles and sniff your fingers. |

Cats are drawn to new objects because they don't have the cat scent on them yet. That's why they nuzzle up to anything. The area in front of their ears contains oils particular to each cat. They rub their head on something, and it's theirs.

so perhaps cat oil would be a better lube than CLP? |
|
|
I doubt it. But cleaning your guns gets the cat oils off. That's why they continue to mark them, just like any object in the house. My last cat would lay in/on, climb into or onto anything I brought in the house. She made it hers that way. |

We went to the humane society down here yesterday and there was a cat that looked just like that named Samantha. Sorry that was random. |

It's interesting that someone's brought this up. All three of our cats are drawn like magnets to guns lying around, particularly after cleaning them. I use Hoppes #9, Breakfree CLP, and finish up with a silicone wipe to finish things up. My GSD is amazing at being able to locate empty shell casings all over my basement as well. He goes nuts smelling me when I've just gone shooting.

My dog LOVES my AR. He's kind of fond of all of my guns, but if there are more than one out of the safe, he goes right for the AR. He'll just sit there licking it until I catch him and tell him to stop. He's kind of a strange one...

I forgot to clean the box and my cat peed in my 5.11 range bag.
I sure don't love that. |
|
Fixed it for ya. |

Wow. Your cat and my cat could be related. I don't have any pictures of it, but he preferrs headbutting my AR opposed to any of my other rifles. |

One of my cats looks just like that. She just showed up on our porch a couple of years ago and wouldn't go away. She was somewhat crippled--she has severe arthritis that prevents her from jumping and also has a hyperthyroid condition that requires treatment. She's semi-feral and is very aggressive toward my other cats and requires segregation because she has claws and they do not. She isn't very friendly to anyone but me, but she follows me around and is extremely loyal. She loves to roll on the AR that I keep in my bed. One of my other cats is a fat blonde tabby who likes to sit on sidearms. Last night I couldn't find my S&W 642 that I had set aside while messing around on my laptop and got frantic. Finally, I realized I had it on the couch and reached under his belly and found it. I do get annoyed when they try to "help" me clean my guns and they get hairy. |

You will note my avatar, I have a hard time getting that 10mm back from him.

Mine are not allowed in my gun room. Must be the smell or something because they love it in there...... |

Cat threads have to be one of the most reoccurring threads on ARFCOM.
Why is that? |
|
To quote Garfield (the cat): Because "Cats rule and dogs drool"!!! Actually I like dogs too, but for some reason they just aren't as photogenic as cats are... |

My parent's dog Dixie is absolutely terrified of guns. Any type of gun. Handgun...longgun...blackpowder rifle it makes no difference. She's not afraid of anything else. Not even loud tools out in the garage like impact guns or air hammers.
But if you walk through the house carrying a firearm she heads for the bedroom like a brown streak. It's the strangest thing. We've theorized that since she's never seen or heard one fired, that she must watch TV. Our cats love firearms. I bought a new upper the other day and left it on the desk in the spare bedroom. It's covered in cat hair from "kitty inspections". |

I saw a hummingbird do that to the bore of a 12ga once. HEY, I SWEAR, HE WAS ASKIN' FOR IT! |
|
|
Glockgirl - our cats look alike. Mine doesn't care for guns. She cares for food and warmth.
|
|
Cats are sneaky. No unconditional love like a dog. Cats will let you know when they're pissed off. Come to think of it, cats are like wimminz!
|
|
|
Our cat is a liberal that doesnt like guns. If he see's me holding one he will take off like a rocket and run straight into something like a wall.

1) Cats do what they want. 2) They rarely listen to you. 3) They're totally unpredictable. 4) They whine when they are not happy. 5) When you want to play, they want to be alone. 6) When you want to be alone, they want to play. 7) They expect you to cater to their every whim. 8) They're moody. 9) They leave hair everywhere. 10) They drive you nuts and cost an arm and a leg. Conclusion: They're tiny little women in fur coats. |

1. A lot of the time yes, but she doesn't misbehave 2. Mine comes when she's called, knows what "no" or "down" means, and also knows what it means when I ask her if she wants to play ball or where her toy is. 3. Only until you get to know them, they're just not as universal as dogs 4. Dogs whine, cats just meow 5. Mine never wants to be left alone, and is always up for play. 6. She's able to entertain herself and doesn't mind doing so if I'm busy 7. Cats are very low maintenance, compared to, say, a dog 8. And men are not? 9. So do most dogs 10. My cat costs me less than $20 a month to keep, we won't get into how much I spend on the man Conclusion: Men and dogs are expensive and high maintenance |

Metro's and those little fuckin yappy dogs? May be. Men and real dogs? I think not |

Cool thread. It must be the Hopps #9 and CLP. It's like catnip.
