OK.  I've been shooting Garands for a few years, but I have decided I want an AR15 type rifle for my next toy.  I don't care to shoot matches, just want it for plinking, shooting coyotes, home defense, etc.  I want a resonable amount of accuracy, but don't care about match quality.  I can't make up my mind whether I need a carbine (16") or rifle (20").  I have been eyeballing Bushmaster, but also like the looks of the Gunsmoke Enterprises RRA guns.  Any feedback on GSE?  I have also noticed some talk about the LEGP here.  Does anyone have any info on it?  Was that just a one time deal?  Any info would be appreciated.  Thanks for reading.

The Bushmaster carbine would be a great choice. Consider the A3, for the most versatility.
As far as GSE is concerned, there was a recent thread in which many who have done business with them, are less than satisfied. You might want to avoid dealing with GSE.

Welcome.  And don't take the decision on barrel length too seriously.  That's the beauty of the AR series, from 16" to 20" in seconds.  One lower (if you go post-ban, the fixed full stock is fine) and change the upper to suit your needs.

Bushmaster Dissipator A3 with front sight.
A2 carry handle.
"TeleStyle" buttstock option.
Redi-Mag extra magazine holder with bolt hold-open feature.
Hogue grip.

I recommend keeping the bbl. end clean for ease of cleaning and accuracy/noise considerations (as if I clean my guns religiously or am some kind of super shooter...), but, one of the compensators might look real nice on the end.  L&G Weaponry makes an exceptionally clean looking comp. Welcome to the site. For LEGP info see this thread http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?id=33523

For plinking, defense and overall rifle the carbine is my preference. A3 would be my preference also. This config just give that bad ass cool look to the rifle. You can use optics or iron sight. Maybe even both. Light weight compared to your HBAR. Good for close and ranges to 200yds.

Here's a pic of the M4 from the previous LEGP. Made by RRA.

Thanks everyone.  So, where's the best place to purchase my Bushmaster?  I have a friend that is an FFL, so shipping is no problem.

Since you have an FFL see if he can order direct from Bushmaster http://www.bushmaster.com/
