Teen accidentally shoots self in face
New Port Richey, Florida — A teenager has been hospitalized with facial injuries caused when a bullet he found fired while held in a vice, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office reported Wednesday.

The victim, Alex Carman, 15, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with injuries to the right upper cheek.

Investigators say the Riverridge H.S. student found a 380 bullet on the side of a road, brought it home and put it into a vice. He apparently struck the the primer end of the bullet with a metal screw, causing it to fire.

Did it bounce back and hit him or was he just hit with shrapnel from the partially non-supported case? It would be kind of difficult to hit the primer with a screw with the bullet end facing you.

Either way, he's a idiot.

Wow, I bet he was horribly maimed by the primer when it popped out and hit him in the face. I guess there were no spork tragedies to report that day.

For awhile I thought it said 'fatal injuries' not 'facial injuries'.

I was like WTF? How could the bullet leave that fast from a unsupported case? Until I reread the paragraph.
