Like the title says.

www.odcmp.com/rifles/carbine.htm

29 December, 2006.   The Army has transferred to the CMP a significant quantity of M1 Carbines. We are currently processing these carbines through our Inspection & Repair operations and expect to have some ready for sale by 1 March, 2007, but it may be sooner. More information will be posted on this web page as it becomes available.

At this time no decisions have been made as to grading, pricing, or limits. We are not accepting orders or establishing waiting lists at this time!!

Unoffically I've heard  the price will be $500 each and they will be getting around 35,000 of them.  That's a lot of carbines.

That's some great news!  That means the market price for USGI ones will drop too.  I just can't see paying $700 for one of those little blasters, they are cool but not Garand cool, at least to me.

Are they going to be selling USGI .30 carbine ammo as well?

This is awesome news.  I've always been lookwarm about getting a Garand (yeah, yeah, blah blah George Patton), but I've always thought that M1 Carbines were fun and handy.  I will get one.

Come on. Somebody here has got to hook a couple brothers up.

It happens all the the time. You buy a couple rifles for yourself, then a couple unexpected bills show up and you have to sell one or two.

Also there will be not import marks on these.  I suspect they will all have been upgraded to have bayonet lugs, adjustable sights, flip safeties, and maybe M2 stocks so the price of original early carbines won't be much affected.  Will definitely put a dent in the import marked ones out there though.

Hopefully there is some check in place that will prevent a few from buying them all up right off the bat and then selling them later for $800-$1000 a pop. A strict "one per person" policy or maybe just C&R holders and then only one each would be good in my opinion. Do they have a limit on buying or can someone snatch them all up in a big lot if they want ? I would rather see the wealth spread than a few capitalists getting the lot and trying to make some bucks

At $500 each, I'll probably jump on a couple if they are in good shape. They can keep them if they cost much more than that.

You don't see them that cheap in stores around here. In fact, you don't see them in stores here at all.

I think they do have limits on buying.

I know they have rules against buing for resale. They used to anyway. Buying in bulk would probably raise some flags with them.
