Giving credit where credit is due. This was written by Byron McGregor in 1974. Byron was a newscaster for CKLW AM800 radio in Windsor, Ont. He read this on the air. Byron died in January 1995. I used to have this on a 45rpm record. The local radio station played this today and gave credit.

Gordon Sinclair wrote it in 1973.  The demand for it was so great that many people recorded versions of it, perhaps Byron McGregor was one of them.  For the complete story check out http://www.rcc.ryerson.ca/ccf/news/unique/american.html  It is even listed in the "Urban Legends" as a true story.  http://www.snopes2.com/quotes/sinclair.htm

I was just re-reading the editorial, and noticed that something was missing.  I realised that the "new" version was shorter.  It has been edited to remove topics and sections that would show its age.  Here is a link to the original editorial.  http://www.rcc.ryerson.ca/ccf/news/unique/am_text.html
