That should be the difference between America and its enemies - the ability to think rationally rather than to act from blind emotion.  The ability to offer our hands in friendship, or strike quickly and effectively, without hate, now that the need has arisen.  

We need to look at terrorism as a disease, and its perpetrators as infected vectors of that disease.  When we find terrorists and are satisfied that they are indeed vectors of this disease, we should kill them as we would rabid skunks - swiftly and surgically.  We shouldn't defoliate, poison, and napalm the forest in the effort to kill just the rabid skunks.
