To enlist in the Reserves you must be 17, and must be halfway through your junior year of HS. To deploy you must ahve finished all yout training (basic and AIT) and since a condition of the enlistment contract was that they finish HS they must do that as well.
They could go to the local community college and pass the test and have a diploma in hand and set right out to AIY, and deploy from there. |

Unless it has recently changed, you can enlist at 17 (with parental consent) but cannot be assigned to a combat zone until you are 18.
