Hello all.
I hope that we can, as brothers in arms, be more tolerant of each other in these times. I have only posted once since this whole tragedy began... I watch the news, go to work, and read many of your posts. I haven't done much else since this all began. Since I am "only" 29, and have never served, I think I may join the reserves. I don't want glory... and I don't think I am bloodthirsty... but now more than ever I feel the need to serve my country. I just wanted to say that I hope to see all of us here at AR15.com do a little less bickering between ourselves, and see us think more about what we say before we say it - although emotions running high makes this very difficult at times. I have no problem locking up the boards and not allowing anyone access to them for a few days until we all have time to relax and think things through. I've tried to allow this place to remain open so you could all share your thoughts, but I have to do what is right for the site, our families, and our country. People who attack groups are WRONG. Innocents are just that, you're willing to violate others FREEDOMS because your angry and scared and that is not right, it is not AMERICAN. I hope you guys can understand, because I wont sit by any longer and allow this to continue. We're all (staff, moderators, and myself included) going through some serious shit right now and are not thinking or acting as we should all the time. If the site CLOSES, CHAT will remain open for those who wish to talk and be together. Don't let these fuckers tear us apart, do not let them divide us. We are a united nation and we must have faith in our elected officials to act on our behalf. Tyler, like you I am 29, never served, and highly considering quitting my job and leaving my life to serve in the military. If I knew I would get to take part in this countries response against these Terrorist countries and groups, I would have already signed. I feel it my DUTY to defend freedom and liberty with my life and am willing to do so. I will not however violate another's freedoms or allow that to happen on a forum or in life. i'd like to add that many here are, in my opinion, using the events that have happened to progate their own hatred and bigotry. they are hiding behind the "i'm just really [expletive] angry. it's just the anger." bull. i'm angry as hell too. but i don't hate anyone over this. i hate their actions and i deplore their twisted interpretation of their religion that "supports" these kinds of actions. if anybody doesn't like the rules that have been handed down, you're free to leave. this is our home too. i wouldn't let you talk like this in my home. and GB has requested that you don't talk like this in his home. either honor his request or suffer the consequences. and no, that's not a threat. that's just a statement of fact of what you can expect. |

Mine are huge and made of brass hardened by over 20 years of military service. They've roasted in the sun of the Persian Gulf for 30 months of time away from home in my 14 years of marriage. A chest of personal and unit medals hangs above them. I know of what I speak.
There are way too many idiots displaying their complete and total ignorance of world events here in public for the world to see. They have no idea of what an Afghan is, how they differ from, say an Arab from Yemen, Saudi Arabia, UAE, or the South Bronx. "Nuke 'em all" from these cavemen time and time again. It was cute once but it's really getting old don't you think? It reeks of racism rather than anger - I hate these mothers just as much as the next guy but know that nuking Cairo or Mecca isn't going to do jack except widen this into a race war. Justice will come slow, low, and accurately at the end of a cruise missile or an LGB dropped from an F-15. Quit dragging your knuckles on the deck and suck it up and get an education. We're the biggest baddest mo' fo's on the planet but that doesn't give us the right to exterminate an entire race simply because a few hundred of them attacked us. Last time I looked in the mirror I looked an awful lot like the race of the Nazis who killed MILLIONS. Too often Americans, arguably living in the most racially diverse country in the world, see nothing other than the race of the person they hate. How simple minded that is and very very sad. Of course it would be just as accurate if we were talking about the Chinese in China, Latinos in South America, blacks in Africa, or, by God, Arabs in the middle east.
