36+ hours working straight so far. I'm glad to get back home to loved ones and to get a couple hours of sleep before I go back to "ground zero".
First off, I cannot even begin to tell you the horror of actually being there. I have never been in a war before but I imagine this to be very very close. My prayers go out to all victims' families, especially to the Firefighters - "NY's Bravest" and Police Officers - "NY's Finest" that lost their lives during the collapse. Many good people died doing their jobs, deceased police officers are being found with their flashlights still on and I'm still unable to find out if friends/co-workers made it out. Please people, do the right thing and say a prayer, make donations, or simply say "thank you" to anyone in the emergency services. God Bless us all... Police Officer Ray Quindara NYPD - 5th Pct., "Chinatown" |

can somebody do me a favor and post this in "General Discussion" as well...I'm too busy crying right now.
Take care everyone |

Glad you are OK!!!! Sherm too, has anyone heard from NYSHOOTER?
|
|
We were very worried about you. I am thrilled you are okay, and hope NYShooter is too. America will get through this, with your help. God bless you.

Ray, let us know if your family needs anything, money, food, anything to keep you out there, ok?
Just ask, it is yours. Bill Marcy 607-271-9522 |

I am glad to see you made it & I am very sorry about your friends/colleagues.
But for the grace of God, it could have been you/us in our cities nation wide. Stay safe & God bless. "In the simple performance of duty, he pinned on a badge, checked his gear with a practiced eye, and kissed his loved ones good-bye. In the simple performance of duty, he reported for work, joked with his buddies at roll call, and made his last trip down the squadroom hall. In the simple performance of duty, he answered the call to help the helpless, to find the lost, no matter the danger or how great the cost. In the simple performance of duty, he lay down his life, for those in peril he tried to save, our brave friend went to his grave. In the simple performance of duty, we honor his deed, as we carry him to rest in a flag-draped casket, long after the world has forgotten, we shall never forget. Never judge or regret, what he did, In the simple performance of duty." http://www.mixi.com/~thantos/poem02.htm |

There are more than a quarter of a billion people behind you, who are anguished that they can't be of more help.
We've got your back, but PLEASE make sure you come home tonight. Semper Fi! Ken Little |

Wave:
With all of the wars fought and the lives lost since the founding of these United States of America, no men have ever been so courageous as those that you are fortunate to call your co-workers! Our hearts and tears pour out to you fine men and women honerable enough to voluntarilly wear a uniform for the city of New York. Yes, hundreds of thousand of brave men and women have given their lives in line of duty for our military, but none had the opportunity to punch a timeclock and quit at days end, or to simply walk off the job... You keep going back on your own free will, to honor not only your fallen brothers and sisters, or your community, but because it's in you. You will forever carry what most of us can only imagine in our worst nightmares, but will thankfully never be forced to see... You sir, are America! |
|
Thank you all for your support and words of encouragement. I would honestly give anything to ease the pain of the thousands in mourning. I also want to personally thank all the visiting Police and Fire Departments, our Brothers/Sisters, that made the trip to NYC, immediately without even being asked to stand by our sides. I have never been more proud to be a police officer than I am now.
There are ways to help, my best suggestion is to watch your local TV stations as they always have phone #'s that you can make donations at. If you are more local and can get to NYC, it is possible to volunteer your efforts. Donations of food (to feed the hungry cops, firemen, national guardsmen, volunteers, etc.) are greatly appreciated in the burough of Manhattan South. I'll try to find out more info on that, maybe the other NY board members can help me with that??? BTW - everything south of 14th ST in Manhattan IS CLOSED except to emergency personnel so be advised if you plan on doing a surprise visit to my Pct. to meet me you'll simply be turned away. Once again, thank you to all...I must somehow get some sleep and then get back in there. |

You and all the others working there have my prayers and uttermost respect.

We're all very glad to hear that you're safe, and we mourn and pray for those who lost their lives trying to save others.
Thank God we have "the Finest" and "the Bravest" when we need them. Freedom isn't free Semper Fidelis Jarhead out. |

Ray, when this happened there was an outcry from the members over you and the rest of our NYC contingent. Many of us were restless for news on your conditions and that of the others.
You are a hero and I would forever be honored to do what I could to pay you back for your deeds. The same applies to ALL the officers and firefighters who gave their time and risked their live and to the families of those who gave their lives. My wife and I are donating blankets and canned goods as well as anything else they ask of us. I have put myself (along with EdSr and JLA) on the RedCross's volunteer list and they have simply asked us to stay put until called. There are roughly 10,000 firemen, police, doctors, and emergency workers on their list already so there is more support than you could imagine. I would drop everything I am doing in a heart beat if called. If you say the word I will ignore them and drive there right now to do what I can. If you could possibly help us locate NYSHOOTER, he is the still missing and we're very concerned. I have his name, but not much more at this time. I am hoping to get his home phone number to try to contact him and his family. I am not a religious man for the very reasons that something like this can happen. BUT my heart and mind are on you and everyone else during this tragedy. Please be careful and know that your family here would do anything for you. If you need or wish to contact me for ANYTHING email me and I will call and give you all my contact information. -- GB |

Good to hear you are ok Waverunner. Thanks for the great job you guys are doing.

Ray:
Aside from having immediate thoughts about those who lost their lives in the initial moments of this attack you were the first person I thought of when things went from bad to much, much worse. Initially there was an outpouring of requests for information over both your safety and NYShooters. You guys are family.............we are all family on this board. A prayer was answered by God when I learned of your survival. Hopefully NYShooter will fare as well. Thank you for your heroic service not only to those who have been injured and those who perished but also to America for you and others of your caliber and stature represent the very very best that our country has to offer. I, as your brother, salute you as a true American Hero! God Bless you and your family Ray. |

You da man Waverunner. Thank you, hang in there and God bless you and yours and America.

Good job Waverunner. I hope eventually you can pass along what you saw--we all need to know the type of anaimals we are up against.

I just got back from driving back from Orlando.
When I saw this on the TV at the airport, the first thing I thought is that your precinct had to be close & you must have been there quickly. Glad you are OK as can be. |
|
I am glad your OK pal. I know that you would have been one of the first officers to run up the stairs of the WTC and try to help people escape. If you were on duty at 9AM on 9/11/01 its possible that you would not be alive right now. God has other plans for you. Maybe you are suppose to marry that beautiful girlfriend[:P] of yours and start a family. I am just glad that I will get to see your face when you shoot my 50BMG for the first time. [:O] There is a fire house on the end of South St that I pass every day before I pass the WTC. They are a great bunch of guys, and are always fast to respond to anything that happens at my work. Unfortunately, they were one of the first crews to respond to the WTC and as I understand it, ALL of them died in the collapse. Its still feels like a bad dream and I know that I am going to lose it when they let me back to work. I owe you (and sherm) a nice, ice cold beer or 2 or 17. [;)] Thanks.

I'm back from a "short day" at work...17.5 hours at ground zero. My efforts pale in comparison to the construction workers and volunteers who have literally gone nonstop since this disaster started. Let us all not forget to thank them.
Please realize that my emotions(as well as EVERYONE ELSE'S) are on a roller-coaster right now. One second I'm experiencing incredible joy to hear survivors are found to extreme sadness when more body bags are ordered over police radio. I just wanted to let everyone know one story that I'm not sure has gotten out yet but brings about incredible anger to me: a deceased Police Officer was found WITHOUT his badge or firearm, there are people out there that are actually looting the bodies at the scene of this tragedy! Please stay away from NYC if your intentions are twisted, the authorities here(NYPD, NYFD, FBI, CIA, visiting PD's, National Guardsmen, Construction Workers, JoeAverage Good Citizen) will catch you and make an example of you and I'll be the first in a very long line. OK time for me to report back to work... God Bless Us All |
|
Thanks for the update Waverunner, and your work in what must be a un-thinkable task. Stay safe.

I'm very upset at what Wave just reported. As far as I'm concerned, anyone that would do such a thing is just as much a POS as the terrorist and should be shown no mercy!
Same goes for those people that are pulling off scams on the relatives of the victims. |
|
Ray -
You and your colleagues are the first heroes of this war. God Bless you and all of the other Police, Fire, and other personnel working this rescue. Be safe. The looters will burn in hell even if they don't get shot in the process first. We are forever indebted to you. |
|
Our prayers HAVE been answered !!!
Ray, YOU are alive...God to continue to bless us all and make us Stronger. The Job is not done yet...more prayers going out. [:(] |
|
Ray, glad to hear that you are ok. Keep your spirits up, just remember that we are proud to call you a freind and a brother. It is a disgrace to hear about the officer who was robbed of his badge and weapon upon his death. I trust that you will take good care of the prisoner once you have him in custody.

|
God Bless you and your loved ones Ray.
We thank you and everyone across the country working so diligently and selflessly. All of the Queens Astoria Greeks send their heartfelt thank you's to you and the rest of NY's Finest LilRhody |
|
Glad you are ok Ray. The prayers of the rest of those of us who wear blue throughout the country are with you.
|
|
Ray, not much I can bring to words right now except to say...
Thank you. I'm in EMS here in Pa and am chomping at the bit to do something. There must be a lot of folks showing up, up there cause we're getting repeated announcements over EMS and Fire freq's that NYC does not need additional help. |
|
Yes, there are plenty of emergency service personnel here. Thank you to all those that are willing to come down but aren't because of the sheer # of ESP's already here. The brotherhood is truly amazing.
Time to get back to my precinct now and "ground zero". All NYPD personel are working either 0400 X 1600 or 1600 X 0400 tours, but that does not mean we're leaving after 12 hours of work... Take care......... |
