Saw the Marines convoying along on Highway 395 in California, today.  Half a dozen LAV's were led by a humvee and govt. minivan.

The LAV's were some kind of flak variant.  They had what looked like Gatling guns under the canvass bag, flanked by missile boxes.  The crews were riding like German panzer crews do in movies, standing halfway out the hatches, gesturing at the desert countryside.

They cruised along at 55 mph.   Half an hour after passing them, I saw a tank transporter carrying a "radar" tank.

God bless our brave fighting men.

Sounds like the air defense version of the LAV.
