As luck would have it last Friday I came across a garage sale and desided to stop.

I was just looking when these 2 beauties stopped me in my tracks.  They were a matching pair of coatracks but in my minds eye I seen "gunrack"

$1 each and they were mine.

Now they have found a new life displaying history in my stairwell.

Wide angle shot

Nice example of repurposing. They look good.

Beautiful. Now you need more bayonets.

Wow.  A genuine French M-16.

Makes for easy selection by the crooks and/or kids that break in.

Nice re-utlization.

I hope you never stumble down your stairs and grab that bayonet on the way down!

neat, a good way to add a little more security is to run cable through the actions/trigger guards and bolt it in somewhere (sort of like a bike lock)

That's a great looking rack!

And a nice way to show off the old rifles. I like it.

Nice, I should have my rifles displayed on my stairwell instead of the cheap art there is now. However, those racks would not be good here in earthquake country (not to mention that there are probably CA laws against it somewhere on the books, no doubt).

I really do like that look, and that is a very nice collection.  The only worry I would have is that if those pegs are straight out, the guns could vibrate off of them over time and fall.

Make sure they're unloaded before you put them up there.

Hate to see one of those wooden dowles pull the trigger and send a bullet through a wall.

WTF

I don't want to be critical but I'll bet your wife taught you that expression

Put a spacer or two in the bottom screws to angle it, might work.

That would definitely help, and maybe put an O ring on the end of the pegs.
