We live our daily lives with our greatest concern usually being what
the work day will bring and what's for dinner.
We stand idly by as the American lunatic fringe tell us that deeply
held beliefs such as, "In God We Trust", should be removed from our
currency and our hearts, and that the mere mention of God in school
should be banned.
Today is the day that will be remembered in history as the beginning
of a different America. The line in the sand has been crossed. Our
false sense of security and freedom has been shattered.
We will forever be a nervous nation, wondering if the flight we take
to visit relatives will arrive safely. Worrying if the building we
enter will still be standing when we leave.
This is the modern day equivalent of Pearl Harbor. A bunch of cowards
pull a sneak attack, causing the loss of the lives of thousands of
innocent people.
Apparently some terrorists, somewhere, have seriously underestimated
our leader President Bush, as well as the strength of character of the
American people.. They have mistaken Gerorge W's likeable down-home
demeanor for a weakness in character. Being a psychologist, I could
give you a dissertation on the real George W. Bush. However, I will
sum up his personality in the words of what the Japanese Supreme
Command said after bombing Pearl Harbor;
"I fear we have awoken the sleeping giant!"
We have many many days ahead of us that will be filled with questions,
uncertainty, and speculation. With our prayers, and our resolve,
those responsible will soon learn why one of the slogans of the United
States of America is:
"Don't Tread on Me!"
Let us say a prayer for all of the innocent people who have lost their
lives in this senseless violence, as well as their relatives that have
been left in mourning. Further, let us say a prayer that God will
lead our nation forward and united. And that those responsible will
be found and punished expeditiously.
Hug your spouse, hug your kids, hug those you love, and look to God,
for regardless of what some people would like us to believe, it is In
God We Trust!
God Bless You All and God Bless and Protect This Great Country!
And as always, Be Careful Out There!
