Anyone got any tinfoil hats for sale ??? [:)]
11:35 AM EST.
Gonna call the local news station shortly and the local police to see whats going on...

I don't know what kind of helicopters they were, but they were dark grey or black, and sorta looked like an overgrown Apache...
Looked too big to be Apache, and were definately not Bell-tech's.
They were really loud and noticeable, and flew in a 1/2 mile circle at about 500 feet.
I should have grabbed the camcorder...Didn't even think of it 'till they flew off...

They both circled 2 times, and 1 hovered, while the other circled a 3rd time...

I wonder if the BATF is planning to burn down my house sometime soon...
Just hope they do it when me, the wife, and 4 daughters aren't home.

If the news station or police tell me anything, I'll keep you guys posted...

KINDA STRANGE...

The local police didn't know anything, and said the military doesn't tell them anything. He then suggested calling the control tower at the Reading Airport...
He said there was an airshow at Willow Grove today so maybe thats where they came from...
Only thing is, Willow Grove is about an hour drive away...

Could be looking for dope though, we live in a small valley, and are surrounded by mountains and land, with the city of Reading very close by....
They flew over the mountaintops when they circled, and my neighborhood is in the center...

I just thought this was a little weird...

I hope your home owner's insurance is paid-up. :)

Seriously, after I've seen the local pigs knock-down three front doors, smash toilets with a the back of a fire axe (flooding the bathroom and doing a lot of water damage), and rip insulation out of ceilings, I asked my insurance agent about coverage.  My policy doesn't cover damage from government-sponsored vandalism.  I haven't heard back from him on my request for a quote on a policy that does cover it.

Any military bases nearby?  May just be training.  I saw 3 of the "overgrown apaches" you're talkin about along with 2 chinooks once and It was nothin but a training flight.  A guy that lives about a mile from here is a National Guard flight instructor so choppers buzz my neighborhood all the time.

I live in an area of heavy helicopter activity. The good news is, most of them are PD or news choppers.

The bad news is, your visitors were either military, looking for illegal plantings, or

Worst case scenario:

Imbroglio was reported lurking in your valley!

(Just kidding Imb...)

I wish you all wouldn't post these observations without photos, it only dilutes the credibility of those who visit this board.

I don't trust the bureacracy, and anything that
will keep me better informed about their
oppressive activities is welcome.

I am not saying your not credible, but, why even post it?

People questioning my credibility, or why I don't have pictures, only dilutes the quality of this topic...

Why even respond ?

Thanks for the link Sgt...

The two I saw looked like the AH-Cobra, but much bigger.

My buddy called a little while ago, and said he saw 4 copters in his area circling around...He said they also were flying low and circling around...

He said he saw 2 large "gunships" , a Cobra, and a Huey.
I guess what I saw were the large gunships...

After thinking about it, maybe they were just "killing time" waiting to fly back to Willow Grove...
It just seems really far away...

Look at a map, and see how much space is between Reading and Willow Grove AFB...
You'll understand...

When I would spend my summers in the Mountains of North Carolina, I would occassionaly see Helicopters and AWACs doing Fly-Overs. Word was they were looking for Drugs. The activity picked up around '96, and I suspect they were also looking for Eric Rudolph. But, they'll never find him in those mountains. There are so many back trails, tree coverage, and slopes you could hide and never be found. In South Florida, I would occassionally see the Sherrif's chopper fly-over looking for my neighbor's boyfriend. But, if it had been a search for a criminal, then you would know and so would the local PD. Also, PD choppers do not fit your description. Definitely Federal LE or Military. Choppers are ineffective for tracking illegal guns. I would suspect they would use a surveillance plane rther than choppers which make alot of noise.

Well, as for pic's to back anything up..I have none.

But a number of years ago when living in a small mountian town in Colorado I looked out my kitchen window and was staring at two of those black Helicopters. I still don't know what they were looking for or if they were even watching something .....They were just hovering there at about 60 yards.

As for pic's I was more concerned about getting out of the house.

Later that day I learn that there was the largest ICE HOUSE bust of the time a few blocks way.

And they say our black AR's are scarey [V]

Last time I went shooting at my "long distance" range I had a chopper hover over my position at about 1000 ft. There isnt a helopad for at least 50 miles in any direction. I figured it was the Meth-lab hunters. There are a lot of low life pukes getting put away for that around here.I think they should literally be "put away"
Edited just to say no, the chopper's not in the pic. ..just thought I would show where it happened. I didnt think the crew would like to see a flash coming from a man with rifles!!Be it a camera or ?

Hi Art -
Get on the link and see if you can positively ID the choppers.  I suspect it was either the show at the Grove or as mentioned, the ANG earning their merit badge for anti-drug ops.
As for Art's credibility, don't question it in my presence, I'm not a nice man when my friends have been insulted..

After looking at all the pics and links, they're starting to all look the same...
If I had to guess, the ones pictured below look most like what I saw this morning...Only thing is, they were DEFINATELY not green...
They were more like a charcoal color...

These also come in basic black.

Like I said, they all look the same to me...
Next time, I will remember to grab the video camera...

I didn't think of grabbing the camera right away this time...
I was sitting in my living room in my underwear, and saw them out the window...
Not wanting to scare the neighbors, I threw some clothes on quick, and ran outside, to see them pair-up and fly off...
The wife watched them the whole time and was 'kinda freaked out...
They were so close and so low, I could have EASILY hit them with the .308 FAL...(I'm not that stupid though)......[sniper]
