How much ammo fits inside a .50 ammo can?

How much .223 can you get inside one? How about 9mm? Do you store it loose or keep it in your boxes? I have some 20 rd boxes of LC m193 and 30 rd boxes of Guatemalan. Also have some 9mm ammo to seal up, and probably some .22LR soon.

I know that 50 boxes of 20/box plus four 30rnd mags fit in a SAW can (an oversized 50cal can).

Not sure about a regular fiddy can

I got 840 rounds of 5.56 on strippers in an 223 can. I got 860 of 7.62x39 in boxes in an identical can.

You can fit 1000 rounds of boxed Q3131 or Q3131A inside a regular .50cal ammo can.

You can fit 940 rounds of boxed 7.62X39.

up to 600 rounds of 7.62NATO fits inside a .50 cal can (loose).

For .22, three of the 500 round bricks I buy (10 boxes of 50 rounds each) exactly fit in a .30 cal ammo can (1,500 rounds).

For WWB 9mm, I can fit 20 of the 50 round boxes (1,000 rounds) , or 14 of the 100 round value packs (1,400 rounds)in a .50 cal can.

i have 8 cans that come off of our mini-guns on the chinooks, thats a real mans ammo can. 50cal cans are way too tiny

Yup. My first 2.5 months of working in the Mid-East as a contractor I worked at the ASP, (ammunition supply point), and that's ALL we did. We inspected ammo, ONE.ROUND.AT.A.TIME, for mis-fires, dings, dents and any other problem that could cause a malfunction. We then repackaged it and shipped back up north.
Funny thing was that I have NO prior military or ammo experience. Took some hokey 2 hour test on a computer and suddenly I was qualified to inspect everything from hellfire missles to 5.56

ETA: Just to clarify, I never got to inspect anything other than 5.56 and a few 25mm rounds but was told that if needed to we could.

Depends on how it's packaged. 30-rd IMI M855 boxes: 1050 rds. 20-rd XM-193 boxes: 800. 210-rd bandoliers, a lousy 630.
