Good call, Spectre... I'd be right behind you with the full size USP .45... but I want the socom model with the suppressor. You never know, you might need to be sneaky. This'd eat up all my $2000, save for but a few boxes worth of ammo, but then how much handgun ammo do you think you need?

A .38 snub nose so I have enough leftover to buy a 10/22 [:)].
If I have only one gun to survive with it would be a .357 revolver. They last forever and shoot everything, all the time, without cleaning, did I say forever? I tend to belive that I would be shooting game more then people (taste like chicken but I still like venison better). If I had to chose one pistol to shoot people with it would be a nicer machine pistol [:D] |

Glock 17, with plus2 bases, and night sights.
19 rounds per mag. Accurate. Most plentiful ammo (9mm) Your enemies will probably be carrying M9's, or MP5's, and you can scavenge. Nothing is more durable, lightweight, or has this capacity in such a small package. Parts are all over the place. Take the $1300 you have leftover and get a nice AR M4gery, decked. |

That's a lotta money, normally I'd go with a P7M8, but for SHTF...
USP9F with CCFA tact. bbl, trijicons, expert mag well with 18rd hicaps, gemtech can, and a surefire millenium light. Yeah, that's a lotta do-dads, but I wouldn't have all that crap hanging off my gun at one time... |

Even the threads on the SOCOM are backwards. Of course, HK was only complying with the rules they were given on the SOCOM, but they're much better when they can do it the right way. I'd choose the Glock 20 with hi-caps myself, with a second choice being a G21 with suppressor, followed by the USP Tactical. -Troy |

My Glock 19!
The USP is a super gun and I always was a 1911 fan but I just fell in love with the Glock trigger. It's smooth,fast and with the right ammo 9mm can still do the job,I'll just need to take all my ammo in with me. [:D] |

I choose a Glock 23 (midsize .40) and with the extra $$ I purchase a 9mm conversion barrel, .357 Sig barrel and .22 conversion kit. The rest of the $$ goes for mags and very few spare parts.
The combo above gives me a gun that is very popular in multiple calibers. I'd have multiple mag choices - I can use mid-size or full size hi-caps and they can even all be interchangeable except for the .22 kit. Only a few spare parts would be needed. |

My WW2-vintage Colt 1911 .45. HKs are far overpriced for what you get.
Glocks are great, I just don't like the grip angle. For $2000? Uzi, never leave home without it. "Do what you will, just leave me the hell out of it." |

Based on it having to be a handgun, I would take a 1911, probably a Springfield or a Kimber. and buy mags and ammo with the rest.
re: alot of parts are interchangable with other 1911's can be tore down quickley, reasonably accurate, pleanty of energy at 25 & 50 yards. Most important, I am comfortable with one and can shoot them fairly well considering I don't have one right now, I have shot some that friends have and did decent with their hardball guns [uzi] |

good 1911 45ACP, you don't need 2 grand for this. Use the 45 as a backup weapon.
Then also get a 12 guage pump and use it first. |
