I just picked up a Preban Olympic Oly, it has a very sweet trigger. It breaks crisp and clean right at 4.5lbs. Is this a stock trigger? I have a stock trigger in my SP-1 and it is alot heavier and a little sloppy. Does anyone know if Oly used to put triggers like this in their rifle, or did I get lucky and get one that has already had a trigger job done to it?

Oly used to sell (and may still) custom triggers ("set" triggers) done by Denny Williams (Williams Trigger Specialties--(217) 578-3026).  They break crisply at about 4#, but can be set to fire at about 1.2# by pushing the safety as though going to full auto on an M-16, then allowing it to return to vertical.  The older ones were set by a different method, but I cannot recall it as I have never seen one, just heard about it.  The guns are not marked in any way nor can you tell by looking at the fire control parts.  You might call Denny and ask him about it.  Good triggers are very rare on AR's!  Denny does great work.  

My preban Oly always had a crisp trigger, better than many stock factory triggers I've shot, and a helluva lot better than my Armalite. It's a run of the mill factory trigger, not a set trigger, or I should say [i]was[/i] a factory trigger because I've since replaced it with a JP single stage.

Thanks for the info. It is not a set trigger, I messed with it and confirmed this, but it is nice, right at 4.5lbs, I have checked it several times, and very crisp and clean. I am quite happy with it.
