I read the book not too long ago. I really enjoyed it...well written. And I recommend it.
Now that the movie is planned for this winter, I'm interested to see that too. I'm just hoping Hollywood doesn't screw up the movie like they have so many other good books. Usually if I hear a movie is coming out, I'll wait to read the book after the movie so I can enjoy the movie a little. - Robbie |

Check out the discussion forums if they're still up at that website. The comments from the guys who were there were very positive about the (then upcoming) book. I too hope the movie doesn't disappoint.

Yup, that's where I read the book--too poor to buy a hardcopy.

I had no idea that the American soldiers killed nearly 1,000 somalis. 17 vs. 1,000 sounds like an ass whipping.

I just finished it today (at work). Made time today and put my phone on DND.
WOW!! That was amazing! Now I understand what everyone is talking about. I had to get up and take several walking breaks to regain composure. Already downloaded the trailer awhile back. I don't know why, but everytime I watch the trailer I get teary eyed. Weird. Must be the music, yea, thats it. Can't wait for the movie. |

While shooting at a local match, I got to speak with a Little Bird pilot who participated in the filming of the movie. He seemed impressed with the product they were trying to deliver and spoke highly of the entire enterprise. Based on his comments, I'm really looking forward to the movie without the fears of Hollywood butchery.

I'm a little ove half way through the paper back. Can't put it down. So far what I've gathered, despite the 17 vs. 1000 kill ratio, things get screwed up real easy, and therefor, a rag tag group of armed civilians can give an elite military unit hell.
Got a couple of good laughs out of it too, despite the hell those guys went through. One was when they came up on the guys behind the green Volkswagon and bullets started rocking it. One guy yells across the street to the guys behind the Volkswagon, "What is it!?" Reply? "It's a big gun!" The other was when the one guy was fumbling around with his M60 and a Sammy came out 10 feet away and his partner cut lose with the SAW a foot or so away from his face. "That hurt! I can't hear or see now! Don't ever fire your weapon that close to me again!" Another Sammy steps out and the guy cuts lose with the SAW again right over the guys head!
