Frank,
I guess you don't have to worry about your a-hole coworkers. Maybe they knew your fate and couldn't bear to talk.
Anyway, good luck in the job market. I am a purchasing manager and am getting three time the number of cold calls as usual. The economy is a lot worse than people believe.

Monster.com is owned by andrew mckelvey, the same guy who is paying john mccain and the other anti-gun weenies to advance gun control.

Frank, don't feel bad. I was laid off on July 15th and haven't even started looking yet. If you can afford it, take a few weeks off to go shooting. It's doing wonders for me. :)

I don't think this economy is ever going to turn around. Greenspan has already lowered interest rates 7 times and it only gives the market a boost for 1 day. All that is happening is the corporations are taking profits by laying off people left and right. He can drop the rate all he wants but how in the hell is this supposed to keep the economy going if people have no income to buy things?

I saw a story on the news that the U.S. economy is bringing down all other nations (except CHINA) and we are headed for a GLOBAL RECESSION. The sheeple socialists wanted everyone to be economically equal, well they just might get it.

Economies run in cycles.  This (recession) shall also pass.

Look, we had one of the longest most incredible economies in history.  It couldn't last.  Now we have a  hangover.  Feel like shit.  Expectations still high while reality is just work.  Well?? So what?

We all had to work before.  This will turn around and we will see better times again.  Will it get worse first?  I dunno.  How long?  I dunno.  But I wouldn't bet on it getting much worse than this.  And I would bet it is already starting recovery.  Might be 6-12 months before all the bad numbers shake out though.

BTW, I don't understand how Gateway and the dot comers equate.  Gateway was a profitable company selling a real product generating real revenues and profits.  The dot com boom was total BS with no revenues or profits.  It was bound to die - and did.  Now we are seeing even good companies tighten their belts.  You know when a company like Intel or Cisco get hit times are tough.  Bet on both being in a hiring mode this time next year.  Probably Gateway too.
