I watched a show on either the Discovery or Learning Channel that showed all about the Land Warrior system. While I think it is pretty impressive stuff and those guys are wearing some pretty cool toys, I really don't see how it could all be viable regular issue gear.
There are so many different electronics and interactive systems, it would be a logistical nightmare to keep all of that stuff working together under battle conditions. It might be possible for a select few, but not for everybody. I think a few things will end up being adopted with the rest going to way of the dodo. I wouldn't mind taking any of the stuff they might decide to scrap though. Michael |

In the third picture, I notice that Spc. Boyle is sporting that M-9 Phrobis, which has been so successful that it has eliminated every other knife on earth. It'd be interesting to hear feedback on the system re: how the individual wearing the system interacts with the virtual and real environments and whether or not the Army would equip every member of the squad with this technology or only a designated communication/navigation specialist. |

Do those eye things stop lasers? After I heard about that navy guy who got blinded, and how America shit on him afterwards, that really bothered me until I got out of the Guard. I didn't want to be blinded for life as some BS playing around no one really cared about

If you aren't joking, (I pray to Allah that you are), the Texas flavor of Rguns used to sell them.
Other than that, I don't have any idea. I figure if I want a ground probe, I will grab one of those Glocks M78s for $25. |

Interesting that his HUD shows a map of DC on it. I guess Posse Comitatus is a joke nowadays.
The army should spend more money paying their people than developing gimmicky crap like this. |

Think all that equipment is water/mud/snow/rain/dust i.e. soldier proof?

I've purchased laser protection goggles at gunshows; they supposedly filter out two or three of the military-use laser frequency ranges. No idea how well (if at all) they work. I remember that guy; he was still in bad shape even a year or two later. The military still wouldn't acknowledge his problems, either. |
