Hey folks, what is your preffered snack when going to the range. I preffer to pack some munchies when I go. The ranges are quite a ways from where I live. I normally stay for the day when I go. Here are my favorites:

Balance Bars (Chocolate Brownie)
MetRx bars (peanut butter or chocolate)
Redvines
Doritos (Sour Cream)
20oz Bottles of Diet Pepsi
I normally grab breakfast on the way at McD's. sausage mcmuffin with egg and a large diet coke.

I must be blessed. The Highpower Rangemaster at my shoots always puts on a feast, FREE!  Burgers, sauages, crabs, etc
Last week when it was real cold, he had a huge pot of potato soup, about 10 gallons. It's worth the entry fee just to eat! [:D]

My GF and some .22LR, .223 and 12ga brass.  .223 tastes the best, .22LR is just too crunchy and that plastic in the 12ga just sucks.

Several of our club members are excellent grillers, so each shoot is a picnic and the wives toss in their help.  We shoot till lunch, break, bs, eat, then fully revived we enter the second phase of the shoot.  You wouldn't believe some of the menus.

I don't eat when I'm at the range, too much lead on my hands and in the air from shooting. I may have something to drink mostly water. I also stop by the club house to wash my hands and face before I leave the range. :)

I'm with ya all the away up to the diet sodas.  Either stick with real sugar or (even better) avoid sodas, man.  That artificial sweetner is B-A-D.

BIGDB1:
Oh yeah... and I haven't had a McMuffin since they came out with those excellent Spanish omelette bagels. Now that's eatin'.

Bagels? What's a Bagel? They introduced bagels in Alabama 6 months ago, I think the store actually had 4 customers before it closed. Down here we eat BISCUITS. Made with CRISCO. With BUTTER on 'em. And GRAVY. And none of that sissy stuff that comes in an envlope either. We make ours from the grease left in the pan after you fry the sausage. Bet you folks don't have grits either.
No wonder we have so many heart doctors when you drive in to the big city!

Nothing wrong with biscuits, they are a great side with fried chicken or bacon and eggs. However, they are an inadequate transport mechanism for a slice of sausage, pepperjack cheese, cheddar cheese and a Spanish omelette slathered in bachemele (sp?) sauce. They crumble down the car seat too. No, bagels are superior in the application.

Preffered snacks at the range?

Well I prefer lobster tails and a nice fillet tenterloin, both done on the grill with garlic, tender loin done medium rare, with a side of fresh asperragus au dente, again with a pinch of garlic, baked potato with sour cream and chive.

What I usually bring to eat in the pits before the next relay starts shooting is a can of "cat food" (tuna or chicken), a package or three of string cheese, beef jerky, a couple of diet Squirts and a canteen of water.

Stop at the restaurant on the way up and get a breakfast burrito to go - lasts me until 2 or so - then I break out the pork rinds and Cherry Coke.

Saw some guy eating a pickle today at the range.

Always have to wonder, though . . . if I don't wash my hands before eating,  am I giving myself lead poisoning?

A thermos of very hot coffee.Tempature was 11 degrees a couple weeks ago.Today we had a heat wave with 24 out this morning at the range, but i still have to dig my brass out of the snow.I say that we all go shooting with Lordtrader sometime. We'll swing by HIS McDonalds first though! [:D]

if it's a plinking day then LordTraders snacks would do fine, actually any day they'd be fine. Actually for a match I eat a light b-fast with just some cookies and coffee for range snacks. I also take a regular lunch, sandwich, chips and a little fruit but nothing heavy as it messes with the digestion and it's not fun having to make an emergency head call in the middle of a string of fire. No second shots there folks. If you normally drink a cup or so of coffee in the morning do the same on a range day, the lack of coffee will make you as shaky as too much java.

When you are eating at the range, you must be very careful to wash your hands very thoughly.  Otherwise, you could get lead poisoning from the primers & combustion residues.

If I go Monday through Saturday, I skip the food and eat when I get home.  If I go on Sunday, one of the clubs I belong to puts out lunch in the clubhouse and I go there to stuff my face with cold cuts, kielbasi, haluski, etc.  Also, the draft beer is less than $1 per glass, so I have a couple of those, too.

I dont eat at the range, for the reason mentioned by warlord. there is no running water at my range to clean the lead residue off.
I usually take a thermos of something to drink.

Nothing like fresh milk, right from the tap.

At the range, more fresh milk would be nice, but lots of Espresso or a 5th of Jack.
