Do those deer horns you can put on the bumper of your car or truck to scare the deer away really work?

I'm moving into a neighborhood that's lousy with those guys, and I don't want to hit any.

Actually I think they are whistles.  No they don't work.

They're deer calls, it's so rednecks can hunt during the offseason.

Antlers, horns don't shed.

Carry a rifle in your truck.  Seems to keep the deer away from me.

Like everything else, it might scare away deer once, but after 10 vehicles go by emitting "scary noises" they associate it with the noise and lights of a car, and say fuck it, I can beat this bitch across road.  Hold my beer and watch this.,..

They simply make a high pitched noise.
You could save money by rolling down your
window when your wife or girlfriend is riding with you.

The deer have something nice to listen to just before you run into them.

Waste of money btw.

I was wondering what you were going on about.

Okay, so I won't bother with them. Thanks!

I hit five deer in the first two years that I moved back to Tennessee.  My insurance rep gave me some of those deer whistles and it's been four years now with -0- deer hitting my cars.  I will use them on every car that I own.

There are still as many deer as ever and I see them beside the road in the mornings when I'm going to work.  They just lockup and don't move when they hear the whistles.

YMMV
