quick, legalize them all now so they'll stop protesting!  to do otherwise would hurt the economy, and that would just be unamerican!

If one of my employees had marched today, I would have fired their butt at 8:00 tomorrow.

easy solution: if your business is hurting from these protests, maybe you shouldnt be hiring illegals.

Employers hit by worker absenteeism may have little legal recourse.

"When employees get together for mutual aid and comfort, they are protected from discriminatory action by employers, regardless of whether they are unionized or not," said Sherrie Travis, an attorney specialist in employment and labor law at the Chicago law firm of Wildman Harrold Allen & Dixon.

Jesus fucking Christ. You can't even fire someone for walking off the job.

Idiot employee at one of these "rallies" and you want to fire him/her?

Fine, do it. If they were at the rally, they should have some sort of physical proof. Otherwise, they were just cutting and using the rally as an excuse.

And, if that doesn't work... find another excuse and don't mention the rally unless its positive. :)

Fire them, they aren't protected under FMLA or anything like that.  Put them on the street if that's where they want to be.

Exactly right! If you the employer weren't breaking the law by hiring illegals, you wouldn't have to have business suffer! Shame on any business that can't function without their illegally hired labor. I say boycott any local business that closes because of this - it's a clear sign that they are KNOWINGLY hiring illegals, and to such an extent that they can't function without them.

Another thing - these news stories need to quit dishonestly framing the debate & walkout as being "immigrants". Many of us US citizens are immigrants and aren't walking off the job. It's the ILLEGAL immigrants that this is about.

I am now one large step closer to supporting a national ID card.  One of the large signs carried at the rally:

"Today we march, tomorrow we vote!"
