Never heard the outcome.       How the hell does someone simply walk off with an M-60?

I heard about an NFA M-60 going missing a few months back, but I don't recall it being at Knob Creek.

IIRC, it was stolen from a firing range (owners were down-range checking targets), but it had several busted parts (extractor and some other pieces) so they put out a warning on the various boards for any idiots looking for replacement parts.

The M-60E3 was recovered shortly afterward (good job of security), the Sterling "story" was was something that just developed the more some "story" was told.
Watched the squad cars move in for the thief and then out, but what kind of fucktard or what he looked like had to have been really interesting.
It would also have served good purpose to string the POS up over a limb or let Kent Lomont take out his agression on, that would be a hoot, Kent beating him with a Solothurn barrel in front of the pole barn, ahahaeheheheee!

This happens at ranges around here every now and again. Not full autos though. Usually couple of guys sometimes with kid(s) or girl-friend(s) and range is not full. Other guy walks down to 100 yard targets leaving his guns unattended and then hears car burning rubber out of parking lot. Comes back to find guns gone. You can tell the guys who have been around a while, they only bring one gun out of the locked car at a time and carry it down range with them unless the range is full or they have some to leave to guard them. Also, most have a handgun on their hip.

Ya know, when I take the MGs to the range I like to have someone with me that can keep an eye on them while changing targets and the like...  I can not imagine calling the BATFE and saying...

"Ummm, I was at the range and someone stole my M-60 Machine gun...  What should I do..."

Mind you, I don't own an M-60 but I heard of one that could be for sale down south real cheap

That sucks.

While we are on the topic, I recently inherited an M-60, but it has several busted parts. Anyone know a good source for some replacements???

Well I suppose it could not have been 87 years since the M60 did not exist at such time!

Well I posted over at the hometown forum that I was there this weekend and there were several things it would have been easy (or so it seemed) to make off with.

Couldn't believe the large amount of unsecured large dollar items that were floating around.  I mean if I had a $20k MG for sale, it would at least be tied or cabled down or something.

However, it is always a very fun event, moreso if you can stay all day and have access to thousands of dollars to spend there.  I restrained myself but one thing they do not have is the typical guns for sale (glocks, .45's, smiths, shotguns, etc). Everything is tactical or fricking expensive.  Lots of cheap ammo and mags around though (GI AR ones for $10 MIP).

I did not spot beanie babies but I did spot beef jerky, airsoft, and some jewelry.

That's exactly what I do, even if I'm "just" out in the country on public land. You never know if someone will walk up over a hill while you're down range.

Also, it'd be pretty damn easy for someone to walk up on you and just shoot you, then take off with your guns (or leave them), with nobody the wiser that it was them. So don't leave your runs around people you wouldn't trust with your life (hey, it could happen).

From what I understand the 60 was taken from a pickup in a hotel parking lot. Guy said something about the truck having an alarm and that it was safer there than in the hotel room, guess not.

I asked one of the security guards about 2 hours after the announcement and they still had not found anything.  I can't understand stealing one. It isn't worth anything if you can't legally sell it. He can't take it on a public range without worrying... He'll spend the rest of his life worried that someone may bust him with it.
