I'm planning a trip with my girlfriend just for a Friday to Sunday quick vacation.  I wanted to ask any of you that have been there if you can reccomend me a good hotel to stay in.  We are looking at the El San Juan hotel and casino, but are open to other options.  Thanks

John

I love PR. Been there dozens of times for a two or three day jaunt with the g/f. Here are a few must see places:

Old San Juan . Great places to eat, lots of quaint shops for the little lady, and some wonderful old school architecture.

Fuerte San Felipe del Morro, the Fort that overlooks San Juan Bay, is also a must see. Some more pics of El Morro here

El Yunque, the rain forest, is also a must see. Just dress loosely as it is humid there and you will be walking a lot.....

Fort San Cristóbal, located within the walls of Old San Juan, is also a must see..

Just a few places to go off the top of my head. I'll add to them later...

Do not I repeat Do Not Drink in old san jaun at night.
And the Bars in the alleyways. (actually very narrow streets.) They have a door bell. Dont bother ringing them.

Otherwise Great Place even better than Jamaica, or Aruba IMHO
Good Value for the money. Nice Beaches. Hot Women. And food isnt going to kill your wallet

Puerto Rico doesn't exist, because I've never been there.

The closest you can get to the third world without leaving the US.

But expensive.  I actually liked the Rio del Mar (I think) better.  It's a Westin property.

I was there twice while in the military and once with the wife.

I'd go back but without the wife.

Yes!  there are a ton of places to go.  After you go to Rincon, go to the Arecibo radiotelescope and the Caves of Camuy also.Try the tourism company's web site (http://www.gotopuertorico.com/index.php?language).  You can get good info there for tours to other parts of the island.

Surfing in Rincon is awesome.

The cliffs of Cab Rojo are fantastic.

The beaches of El Combate are great.

But the scube is best off the south coast, near Parguerra.
