I would have dug a foxhole, those things are very noisy. I had the chance to see one perform at an airshow, it was one of the highlight of the show.

It is a British Harrier. I paused the video trying to check for squadron marks, and the nose is from A GR7 I think.

IF you pause the video right as it goes overhead, you can see that it has 2 probes under the nose, in addition to the FLIR on top.

Looks like he is carring a DECM pod on the centerline station, and I'm not sure what is on stations 2 and 7. Might be Rockeyes.....

As someone who worked around the AV-8, if you told me there was a low-flying Harrier around, I'd get the fuck out of the area...

Talk about "lawn darts"...we lost about four of them at my base every year. I saw two auger in myself, one within 600 meters...

My last trip to 29 Stumps, we had one of our pilots do a low level over Camp Wilson. I was down by the phone trailer and he flew right over me. I swear that I could see the outline of the panels on the belly!!!

There's a great vid out there of a low level F-14 pass between a couple ships...not sure where I saw it, maybe on ifilms.com.

I don't care what anyone says - the Harrier is one of the coolest jets around.

Those boys in the Mirages have some serious stones flying over the water like that!  Can you imagine the potential for bird strikes?

I can't say their superiors would be too happy seeing those vids...

The video of the Mirages in the desert shows one actually pulling up to avoid hitting a tree/scrub. A tad TOO low.

Nah, if they were too low, they'd have crashed.

That's why they go out to Djibouti to do that sort of thing: They're not allowed fly that low in Europe. Annoys the natives, and puts too much population at risk if they screw up.

This is the most impressive, though the video quality isn't as good as some of the other.

Back in '95, while deployed on the USS Wasp, we had a flight of Sea Harriers come onboard. One pilot was British, one was a US exchange pilot (Marine Corps of course!). When they did their pre landing fly-by, they did it below deck level, about 200 feet off the port side, at 100%. THe Captain wasn't too happy about the disregard for NATOPS, but the British don't fly by NATOPS, and the Marine was flying under British rules.
