I'm wondering how much beer you actually get in a pony and regular size keg??
Also what do they go for in your neck of the woods? I gave $45 for a pony of coors light, it's been about that for the last couple years. Edited title to avoid confusion

A full keg equals 7 cases of beer. I had 5 kegs for my wedding reception last year: 1-Killian's, 1-Heinekin, 1-Budweiser, 1-Bud Light, 1-Coors Light.

A keg is 15 gallons (half a barrel)
Roughly 52 pints per 5 gallons of beer (unless you're pouring imperial pints) More importantly, why bother only getting a half keg? |

So for the guy who's been up all night how many fluid oz is that?
My brain cant figure out math at this time of day and 3 steins deep  I buy ponies usually cause I'm a pussy and dont like lifting 120+lbs of brewski It's listed by the distributor as a pony being a 1/4 keg and normal size as 1/2keg. Where the hell would you buy a bigger one and more importantly who would lift 260+lbs of beer???? |

I use a Sanke keg as a brew kettle--you should try lifting one by yourself when it's full of boiling wort.... |

A barrel of beer is 31.75 gallons
A half barrel therefore is 15.875 gallons and a quarter barrel is 7.9375 gallons. There are 128 ounces in a gallon. This is a story problem for you youngsters. Now figure out how many ounces in each one.  (I have to check that barrel figure. It might be 31.5 or 31.25 gallons. Right now lunch calls so it won't happen soon.)

Isn't a pony a seven or eight ounce bottle.
Rolling Rock used to come in the pony size.. I guess a pony keg would be a half keg? |

The only time I've heard of a pony in bar-speak is a pony and jigger. The jigger's 1.5 oz, the pony's 1 oz. |

According to various sources on Google, where you should have gone in the first place,
 a barrel is 31 gallons exactly.A half barrel would be 15.5 gallons X 128 ounces/gallon = 1984 ounces. A quarter barrel would be 7.75 gallons X 128 ounces/gallon = 992 ounces. So, if you call a quarter barrel a "pony" there are 992 ounces in it or the equivalent of almost 83 twelve ounce beers.

I work at a brewery and this is correct. Also, a half barrel weighs 161 lbs and a quarter barrel weighs 87 lbs. I manage the Redhook Ale Brewery Keg Dept in Portsmouth, NH. Here is a photo I took of our dept. during peak season (June). Usually this room is completely full of stacked empty kegs (about 5 times what you see here)  |
