A Political Agnostic.

I really don't care who wins in the next election cycle. They are all the same.

The politicians, our elected officials, are consistently selling us out. Whether they are Republican, Democrat, Conservative, Liberal, Libertarian, Independent, Socialist, Fascist, Communist, or whatever.

We elected them. They work for us. They are supposed to represent us. They are supposed to do what is right for the country. I don't see that.

A friend of mine became a US Citizen yesterday. After coming into the country legally, and going through all the proper steps, and waiting years. Now it seems all you have to do is say you've been here five years, and presto, you’re a citizen. What is going on in this country is WRONG! What the politicians are doing is wrong.

I write my elected officials (schumer, clinton, mcarthy) for all the good it does. Once in a while I will get back a form letter. Not much else.

I was watching a news program last night with my daughter. When it was over I apologized to her. What for? For leaving her a country that is in worse shape than when I came into it. And going downhill fast.

Where did I put that hand-basket?

---end rant.

Did you forget about the 10 year "assault weapons" ban? Do you want another one?

It'll just make the SHTF a little sooner. If it's going to happen, I want it to be while I'm young enough to "play".

I hate to be an out-and-out pessimist, but I think the only way things are going to get better is to let the whole damn thing implode and then rebuild it.

The founding documents of the nation are still the best that mankind have managed to create, there's not a single damn thing wrong with them.  We've been sold out because those in power have simply chosen to ignore what they can and circumvent the rest by deceit and dubious legalities that create policies, laws and organizations that simply were never meant to be.

Couple that with the tendency to move toward a Socialist model when populations grow and become more densely packed and our fate is pretty well sealed.

The Founding Fathers KNEW that it wouldn't last forever, history showed them that.  The Second is part of that design to allow the system to be "reinitialized".  Unfortunately they couldn't have imagined just how cowed and dumbed down the population would become.  Their ideas were based on knowledgeable and involved Citizens running the show, not the Welfare and Entitlement zombies that infest this once great land.

"Wonderful is the effect of impudent and persevering lying. The British ministry have so long hired their gazetteers to repeat and model into every form lies about our being in anarchy that the world has at length believed them, the English nation has believed them, and what is more wonderful, we have believed them ourselves! Yet where does this anarchy exist? Where did it ever exist, except in the single instance of Massachusetts? And can history produce an instance of rebellion so honorably conducted? I say nothing of its motives. They were founded in ignorance, not wickedness. God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all and always well-informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. We have had thirteen States independent for eleven years. There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century and a half for each State. What country before ever existed a century and a half without a rebellion? And what country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon, and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."

Perhaps you should join my "NONE of the ABOVE" campaign which I started last presidential election.

All I need is about 149,999,942 more folks to join me in the next presidential contest and we can have our country back.

Mike

ETA - (updated # of folks needed based on total population of US as 298,000,000, I figure if I can get half the population to vote my way, no way we can loose)

Frankly I HATE the democratic party. I also HATE the republican party. That said, I hope the republicans win in 08'. Everyone on this board who lives in a solidly blue state should vote for a 3rd party. Same goes if you are in a solid red state. Clearly swing staters need to take other things into consideration.

They said they gave us a Republic.....if we could keep it.  We couldn't.
I think our FFs were so informed and intuitive that they knew we would fall.  That's why they said the tree of Patriotism must be nourished with both the blood or tyrants and patriots.  We have lost the will to shed either.  Witness the opposition to the war on terror.  Many are ready to pretend 9/11 and the previous terrorist attacks never happened.

John Kasich on FOX news said congress critters live in a different world once they get to Washington.  They think it revolves around them and they lose perspective.   He was there for 18 years.  They're like movie stars that fear the day they become irrelevant ...like Sharon Stone or Michael Douglas...

One of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them: It is a well known fact, that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it. Anyone who is capable of getting themselves into a position of power should on no account be allowed to do the job. Another problem with governing people is people.

I felt the same way in 92, then came Clinton.

Truth is, no matter who we get into office, they are going to be slimebags who will
screw our rights.

The only difference is that one party has a tendacy to do it just a little faster than the other party.

It is the old analogy of cooking fast or slow. In the end it is the same.

That is basically it.

Term limits MIGHT help, but they would never pass it.

Nobody is going to vote themselves off the gravy train.

*sigh*  Guess I will know who to blame the next time a Federal Assault Weapons Ban passes.  I'll blame all of you.  Same people who were to blame for the 1994 Ban.

I've always been an agnostic…

Five things that determine my vote:

1) Gun confiscation leanings
2) Taxation views
3) Personal property rights
4) Personal privacy rights
5) National Security views

Pretty much EVERYTHING else is secondary to those five: in that order.

I make a post like this regarding condoleeza rice, and get labeled a liberal.

At least the socialsts, fascists and communists are honest in their campaigns.

I thought the NRA  signed off on 1986, but I recall during that era the Dems had something approaching a 2-1 advantage in the congress.
