Took this pic this afternoon:

I've seen this pup quite a few times the evening, but never in the middle of the day. Luckily I had the camera handy, and the proper lens on.

Enjoy

Very cool pic.  Are you sure that's a pup?  Either way, thanks for posting it.

dunno. I just call my dogs pups, so I thought I'd call this guy (gal) a pup too.

Maybe I should name it

What, it's not dead? An arfcomr let a fury woodland creature just walk off like that?

Kidding, I enjoyed the pics.

Beautiful animals for sure.

Had one run right down street in front of the house a few weeks ago and I live in the city limits (it's a small city limits ). Growing up when I lived out in the sticks they would pass through the yard all the time.

I always do a double take nowadays when I am shooting a coyote to make sure it isn't a fox, especially in low light. They look very similar, I would be upset if I shot one of those guys by mistake.

That's probably why there's a decent population of 'em around here.

This was the heart of hunt country not too long ago.

just curious, how far away are you in those pics?

it looks like you were right up on it, but you no doubt had some nice equipment taking that pic. actually 100 yards away?

I'll pace it off tomorow.........perhaps 40 yards, maybe less.

The fox didn't know I was there. I had to make noise to get him to turn his head towards me.

I forget how much you have to compensate for the extender, what is it a stop?

Nice camera, I work in a camera shop and have toyed with a lot of nice DSLRs and yours is definitely one of the finer.

Great job with the pic and this picture speaks for Canon's AF and your skill, nice job.

Hell 300x2 + (.5x600) = 900mm, that's a helluva focal length. I believe that's the right math.

2 stops for the 2x....shot at 5.6.

the crop factor for the 20D is 1.6x, so 900 is correct. (more or less)

Oh, and these were manual focus....the Canon AF is so good that it locked on every twig out there.

Great pics indeed.

I grew up fox hunting with my father and have a great appreciation for them as beautiful creatures.

I love how well it's coat blends in with it's surroundings. Maybe we should paint our AR's and call it FOXpat.
