Let's see...could the answer be:
1. We pay so much in taxes that both parents have to work and don't actually raise their kids...someone else does(or doesn't as the case may be)
2. So many couples are divorced that they can't raise their kids in a family setting
3. Babies having babies are incapable of raising kids
4. The violence, sex, drugs, and other crap on TV sets a great example for kids...and I firmly believe this to be a major problem...where do you think kids get the idea to shoot up everyone at their school? There are no more probable copy-cat offenders than kids...and we can thank the news media for showing and sensationalizing every gruesome act of man 24/7 on TV. Also, thank Hollywood and the music industry for the wonderful dysfunctional role models they showcase. The Internet has only made things worse for the additional garbage kids now have access to.
5. Let's next thank Joel Steinberg and his sicko wife for setting the stage for the anti-child-abuse campaign and legislation that went so far overboard that you CAN'T smack your kid on the butt without worrying about going to jail...and the kids damn well know it, which only empowers them to defy their parents. I rank this the #2 problem after TV.
6. The complete breakdown of discipline in school. This is collectively our own fault. Years ago the lawsuit craze sealed the coffin on discipline in school. Teachers are afraid to even raise their voice at a kid...so now they treat kids as their peers and have sex with them instead. Gee, that works!
7. Kids are around adults 24/7 because parents are afraid to let them play outside for fear of being snatched. Another BIG problem. Gone are the days when kids went to the playground or around the block to burn off energy and just plain play, like kids will do. Now they're couped up in the house unless we drive them somewhere to do something or keep them occupied every waking minute. No wonder both kids and parents are nuts nowadays. Not to mention that kids are typically allowed around adults when parents are entertaining....not good. When we were kids and my parents had company over for drinks and such, we were not allowed to hang around with ears wide open, and for good reason. Our parents needed time to be adults, and we didn't need to hear what adults talked about...for our own good! But nowadays, the so-called child experts tell us to be friends with our kids...wrong!
8. They grow up way too fast, then wind up living at home for 35 years...sad, but true. Two issues here...first, they realize it's much easier to sponge off mom and pop rather than work, and for those who actually want to work and be on their own, it's so friggin' expensive that most of them can't without financial help from...guess who? Again, we can thank ourselves for allowing a progressive socialist government where you pay 50% in overall taxes, but get nothing for it unless you qualify for welfare, and generally speaking, if you're paying tax you don't qualify. I suppose this was the "Good Deal". Just like Social Insecurity...quite the joke.
