Bastards!  They are now charging extra for exit row seats and aisle seats.  I understand they are desirable but it makes getting seats online a royal pain in the ass.  The fuckers want $15 extra.   I am going to request extra peanuts and pop to make up that $15!

They have an airline?

Northworst Airlines.

So you pull up their seat configuration online and you get seats with dollar signs on them.  The only way you can get them is to pony up $15 more.

First come first serve sounds more equitable to me.

What principle would that be? Recognizing and exploiting a premium service for maximum profit? No different that charging more for First Class.

I've told people for years NWA is the crappiest airline ever.

This will become industry standard within a couple of weeks now.

DAMNIT!

I hate middle seats.

Oh well....

More reason to drive to Austin to take Southwest.

They are the only airline that might resist this
becasue of thier open seating policy.

And People wonder why I drive allover the Midwest.
I can drive to most locations within 4-6 that I need to go to. If I fly it takes 8 hours after all the Bs. A plus is I can take whatever I want with me.
The last time I flew I got bumped, I got hung up on a job site and did not fly for a year. All the "goodies" I got for being bumped were cancelled, even though I flew 40,000 miles the year I got bumped. Fuck the Airlines, they have done more to Piss off the business traveler.
I can got to the local car rental office and spend $1200 and drive almost whatever I want for a month, and they want my business. I ask for a Mid-size I get upgraded to a full size at NC.
The time I don't waste in a airport/airplane I have been able to stop in some cool places.
The Mom/Pop gun shops in rural areas are my favorite. I meet some good people, I get some good deals sometimes. I have had homecooked meals, while talking guns and the current state of affairs in the US.
Flyover country is drive through for me and I love what I learn on each trip.

Uhhhh, my ex-boss just flew up here on NWA Monday.  He said they were charging $1 for a bag of peanuts and $3.50 if you want another 5¢ worth of misc. kibble.  Looks like they get the last laugh after all.

Hmmm, KLM and NWA are part of the SkyTeam alliance. Wonder if KLM is doing it to. $15 is a small price to pay I think since all the alcohol on the flights from Dubai-Amsterdam-Houston is free!

I like the window seat anyway...

Anyhow...flew Northwest from Incheon... on a scAirbus...
Liked the free on demand movie consoles in the headrests...
In-flight duty free shop!
Service was excellent

As a rule domestic flights and U.S. airports suck ass..

Rude, unkempt, and unprofessional employees...
Persecution of smokers...
I swear, they go out of their way to make you uncomfortable.

Incheon Airport in Korea was first class....

Employees dressed in classy uniforms...very courteous and professional...
Multiple smoking rooms with lighters provided. Ashtrays kept clean and tidy...
Whistle clean bathrooms...
Security screening was thourough, but personell were courteous...
Check in was a breeze... "skycap" immediately assisted me with my bags..
Good Lord it was what flying should be like...

Stopped at Narrita in Tokyo...it was the same way... courteous employees...
Clean smoking rooms and bathrooms...

Get to Seattle....
Had to "walk a mile for a cammel.."
Employees had an unkempt apearance...
300 lb woman working at the Burger King
Security personnel looking at me like I am Osama Bin Laden...
O'hare was much worse than Seattle though...
Wasn't the worst doemstic flying experince I have had...
But I noticed the difference very quickly..
Welcome to the good 'ol USA..home of shitty service

Sometimes, flights are worth it.

I don't understand why people fly to destinations less than 300 miles away, tho.

But if they are pushed back, then they get to count the flight as an on time departure from the gate.

I have to agree with the comments on this thread... I think it is kinda crappy that they are charging for the exit row. I don't like it, but where I live, and given the amount of miles I have, there is little choice but to tolerate NWA.

That is one of the downsides of the Hub system. You kinda get stuck with a major carrier.

I feel your pain everytime I take a toll road  ( I hate them and the elitists that promote them.)

But thinking about it logically, you should be happy about the program, because it free's up the good seats for Dr.'s and other people of means.    You can enjoy sitting with the unwashed masses, from the lofty perch of your elite exit row seat.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the airlines are charging less for tickets today than they did 15 years ago.   Can you say that about any part of the Medical industry?

NWA is in a death struggle.  They are in a race to the bottom with UAL,  and DAL.  Sooner or later, one of them will go Tango Uniform, and the survivers will be able to right themselves.

You don't have to tell us. ( I don't want to know ) but ask yourself : How much labor do you put in to earn $15.00   Timewise.    I think you will find it is literally not worth getting exited about.

Uhh, Ask the good folks at Panam, Eastern, TWA.  They will tell you.

The Gov. slowed down the process with the 9-11 loans, but you have only to wait, watch and learn.  Capitalism is a powerful thing.

Actually, rather than a classic TU, we are more likely to see mergers, with large reduction in capacity.
