Brilliant!

Actually, it a Yaesu FT-897d HF/UHF/VHF transceiver, which means it will do 1.8-30MHZ, 50/144/440mhz bands as well.

Puts out 100watts on hf, 50 on vhf, and 40 on uhf, the AT-897 is the Auto Tuner, paired with a one touch tune, making antenna tuning  abreeze.

Man this thing is complicated though, these menus could be friendlier.

Negative!! CB is max 4 watts... I'll push a hundred on every legal amateur radio frequency (minus vhf and uhf which push lower power limits)

Show me a $900 cb!

CBs are so 70ish.
You should get one of those fancy Motorola two-way radios from Walmart.
Get the expensive $50 ones.

Cool, I've been looking at a mobile high power unit myself. How much. New, used? This is the one that has cross band repeat, yes!

ETA: The SF would have been a better place to post this......

Well... yes and no. CBs operate on the 11 meter band only. You could get that kind of signal out with an lna, but it is illegal, it's bad enough we have the ATF to deal with, the FCC is a different ball park. And you give it away that you are using an amp for the CB, because anyone listening to your signal will hear an echo or ringing.

This sucker operates on all bands, which gives you flexibility for making the best out of conditions, sunspots, temperature, time of day, everything has an impact on signal propogation, much like ballistics.

Can't do morse code, radio teletype, packet, APRS on cb either without modifications as well, which would be a waste of time and energy.

Just the other day I talked to a guy in Germany  on 6 meters

I'm also part of MARS (Military Affiliate Radio System) which lends communications backup to the government and military during disaster, and handles welfare traffic from the states to war zones to deployed soldiers as well. I haven't been blessed to do that yet, but the possibiities of who can be contacted are endless.
