I could not connect for the longest. I finally got to the home page
using mcuzi.com. It then took about 10 tries to logon.

Not just you.  It took me about 8 times just to log in.  No luck with My Active topics either.  I keep getting the "contact system administrator" message.

Thought maybe it was just me but everything else on the intraweb works just fine.  

I started noticing it last night already.

No.  That number is nothing the site can't handle with ease.  

GoatBoy has been away from the site for a couple weeks (or more) and hasn't done the routine maintenance stuff.  Hopefully he will be back soon.

PS... a DOS attack would not register as users, registered or not. They /it doesn't log in per say...  it attempts to log in with an expectation of failure requiring immediate re-authentication multiplied by the number of nodes at it's/ their disposal.

Short answer... it floods you with questions until you simply can't fuction - not tough stuff. Server works the same way.
