That would be a wood floor abomination to be sure.

this is why I asked, someone MUST have experience with it

What about "colored" stains?

I have a friend who's mom is the artsy type.  She had a wood floor in the kitchen and painted it BRIGHT green.

It looked ok and suited her just fine, and it hid the pock marks that my friend had made in the floor when he was practicing throwing knives at it in his younger years.

We've done a white wash on oak hardwood floors before.  If done right it turns out semi transparent and you can see the grain and pattern of the wood thru it.  It is really awesome if done right.  Get too much white pigment in the mix and it is like paint.  We had it done professionally so I can't tell you what the ingredients were or the ratio's.  Would suggest talking to a professional first to see if it's something you want to tackle yourself.   Good luck.
