What kinda shit is this? I guess they can reserve the right to sell to anyone, but does it really matter that it's 10 PM and I want to buy four boxes of .22 rounds?

I called and complained to the assistant manager. I'm going to complain to the store manager tomorrow and call 1800 Wal Mart. I personally think this is bullshit.

I also had one more suggestion for the Assistant Manager. That was that she should send the Sporting Goods employee to clean the puddle of URINE off the floor under the urinal, since he wasn't needed at the sporting goods counter if he couldn't sell ammo.  She tried telling me that it was a federal law about him not selling ammo (which is bullshit).

Since I first posted this on SIG forum, I received a call and apology from their customer service manager, but still no clear detirmination if this is policy or not.

I'd appreciate it if everyone hit up the walmartstores.com website and made a complaint on their comment form as well.

Apparently criminals buy their .22 rounds at 10 pm, but never during the day.

Nevermind that I had a pistol in the truck and a full magazine with it.....

Go in to the store in the morning and sit at the ammo counter until their designated sales time starts and tell the sales associate "hurry, I need to buy 20 boxes of ammo RIGHT NOW!!!! then hurry to the check out area.

When I was in high school, 3 of my friends and I all went in and bought BB guns and a ton of BB's at about 3am and the sporting goods clerk didn't even bat an eye.  The guys at the Wal-mart I get a lot of my ammo from are generally pretty good, at least compared to the horror stories I hear here.

Better yet, ask them, "There's NO background check to buy ammo, IS THERE????????"

So buy your shooting spree ammo at 8:55 then...

I just went to the local WalMart to buy some .308.  The clerk looks behind the counter and can't find any, but asks me if I want .380 instead.

Clearly, this guy was a retard about firearms.

I can only hope that this guy wasn't selling guns to newbies, because anybody who would take advice from him would probably get themselves hurt.

Nope.  Two weeks ago I bought $120 worth of ammo from the exact same store at about 10 pm.

I got a 24 hour Walmart by my house and the same thing happend to me.  I had just gotten off work around 10:00 and stopped for some 9mm ammo, and they wouldn't sell to me.  I then asked "is this a law".  He replied " I'm not sure; all I know is that I can't sell ammo past a certain time".  So I left it at that and went across the street to the 24 hour Meijer and bought my ammo.

I came to the conclusion that either Meijer is breaking the law or Walmart is being run by a bunch of panzies.

24 hour Walmarts here, no restrictions.  Buy all you want at 3am.

Ours are open 24/7

ETA: I've never thought of buying ammo at 3am, so I can't speak to what the procedure is.  At 3am, I couldn't care less unless an emergency has occured, in which case I'm good to go.

i can top that. i wasted a trip to wal mart this morning to pick up ammo. evidently the sporting goods clerk laid out of work this morning, and he was the only motherfucker in the world that had a key to the ammo cabinet. the store manager suposedly doesn't even have a key.

What's wrong is that it wasn't the rule of the store, or the company.  Just some stupid cocksucker pushing his agenda on me.

Because I live in a socialist commune and EBRs are all but banned here.  I have to travel to a Wal-Mart in a different county just to buy ammo at all, they don't carry it i this county at all.

Not all stores have ammo in the stock room, and many that do lock it up in the gun cage/room. The keys were available, as sporting good associates can't leave the store with them. The store manager/assistant managers don't have the keys to the gun cabinet, but he/she can go and get them just like the sporting goods associate has to do every morning when they get there. You just had a lazy fuck that didn't want to help you.

So I guess when Wally World now longer sales ammo 'for the safety of the children' you'll just sell your ARs?

I was meaning you could mail order your ammo, doesn't necessarily have to be Ammoman.

I do mail order most of my ammo.  .22 it isn't worth it, although I did end up ordering 5.000 rds because wal mart didn't want to sell to me that night.
