Even if you erase it on your computer, Google themselves keeps it forever. With a subpoena duces tecum a prosecutor or LE can get the whole sordid history.

After clicking on the “Search History” link at the top of the Google homepage, click “Remove items.” You'll then be in edit mode and can remove any items you don't want by checking those items and clicking the "Remove" button. There’s also a link to clear your entire Search History. To learn more about removing data from your search history, please read the Personalized Search Privacy FAQ at www.google.com/searchhistory/privacyfaq.html.

Also remember that a blank history looks just as suspicious.

If I understand your question correctly, this is how to clear the search history on your Google toolbar.   If you left click on the Google icon, a cascading menu will appear with a "Clear search history option.  Click it and it and you're good to go.

Okay, dingus I just right clicked on my seach bar in the Google toolbar and got nothing.  Holy fuck, smart enough to be a loud mouth, but too stupid to be polite.

If you are using the toolbar in your browser click on options and under search turn off "Drop Down Search History" and "Save the search history across browser sessions".  Then activate the drop down Google menu (left of the seach bar) and select "Clear Search History".

Happy surfing,

Take the hard drive out and burn it, then throw it in the lake. Then go to Compusa and get a new one. Problem solved.

So....Google is not your friend either.

I would try Googling "How to clear Google's search bar memory"

How can I clear the Google Toolbar search history in the registry?

A. The Google Toolbar is an add-on search tool for Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE). To clear the toolbar's search history, perform the following steps:

Start a registry editor (e.g., regedit.exe).
Navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\NavClient\1.1 registry subkey (yes, the registry subkey is 1.1, even though you might have installed version 2.0 of the toolbar).
Select the History subkey, click the Del key on your keyboard, then click Yes to the confirmation.
Close the registry editor.

You will need to log off and log on to clear the cache of previous searches within IE.

And this covers the toolbar itself...
